I just came back from 10 days with my birth family. My cheeks hurt from laughing, my arms hurt from hugging and my heart hurt from leaving. Ireland is the best. Period.

IIRC, Irish orthopedic surgeons were at one point the best in the world at reconstructing knees. They got a lot of practice.

That is the Worst. Listicle. Ever.

Don't even bother to inline the images, highlight the items, etc.  Just present a bald list, with no markup and almost no commentary.

3.  Crazy parties for funerals
4.  A pretty cool accent

It's the New Yahoo!

But yeah, I freaking agree.  And I don't even usually bother with lists anymore, but I want more reasons to pester the SO about claiming his Irish citizenship by descent.

I'm guessing "coherent webpage construction" isn't among them either.

Funerals, true. Three of my grandparents died within a month of each other. It was sad, tearful, and I had a good time at all three funerals. And the party afterward and the after party party.

My wife and I were there at the end of September, and I couldn't have said it better myself.  I can't stop thinking about it.

Whiskey. That's right, you heard me you snooty scotch drinkers. Ireland does it better.

Also, public urination. I thought NY was pretty good at that, but Galway has 'em beat by a mile.

Funerals and drinking, FTW. Here is a family story...

My (Irish) great-grandfather was at a funeral in New Orleans (where his family had moved years before)

Waiter with white gloves and a tray of drinks: A drink, sir?

GGF: *Takes a drink, eyes it suspiciously* What is that?

Waiter: Why, Mr. Fallon, it is whiskey and water on the rocks.

GGF: *Sips tentatively* Fine whiskey, fine whiskey but you can keep your water and your rocks.

Foxhunting. The finest, craziest foxhunting in the world. A cross between a cavalry charge and a Rugby scrum. Huge, courageous, unstoppable horses that easily jump farm gates, jaw dropping gorgeous countryside, cozy warm pubs afterwards. earned my foxhunting spurs there. Truely like dancing through the fire....

I spent a couple months there one summer.  I don't remember a whole lot about it, since I was good and drunk for the majority of my visit.

Belfast was awesome.

How dare you! When my wife and I visited her relatives in Mayo we were always offered a drink. Her uncle asked me, "Do you want it, how do you Yanks say, on the rocks?" I told him I'd take it straight and he said, "Good man! There's too much fecking water in it already."

Managed by gollum?
