"How is it by excluding same-sex couples from marrying you're increasing procreation?" Shelby asked.
Purser declined to answer directly, saying the issue was irrelevant in this case and besides, there's this Wookie, you see.

Court. It's very likely to happen. Judge is an Obama appointee and has sounded highly sympathetic in oral argument. The state will appeal to the 10th Circuit, of course, but by then it'll be 2015 or so... Can't see anything but victory here. The Nevada case at the 9th Circuit might get a ruling first, though.

Plus, it's Mississippi that will be last, just as in every other category.

Utah might flip and decide to embrace the inevitable, because they're retarded to think that this will lead to relegalization of polygamy celestial marriage.

Actually, the Mormons have been pushing behind the scenes for equity before the law for homosexuals.  Really, really hard.  They're also making strong media pushes to appear less gay-hostile than their strongly conservative reputation would suggest.  At the moment, they suggest that gay people are okay as long as they remain celibate, which, given the general Mormon emphasis on celibacy (you will never get laid by a Mormon girl. ever.) outside of marriage, isn't much different from saying that they should also be avoiding alcohol, cigarettes, and coffee.

We talking about the Same moron Church that poured untold money and manpower into Prop 8 and the ones who after Seizing control of the Boy Scouts of America started expelling gay boy scouts and seemed prepared to kamikaze the organization rather than change that?  If they are "working behind the scenes, it so far behind them that nobody seems to actually know they are there

So, would you say they're reaching around to offer a hand to their gay fellows? Does this represent a widening of their previous anti-homosexual stance, or is it something they've been thrusting toward for a while? Either way, the balls are definitely in their hands. I'm sure that eventually a few good men will come from behind the scenes to offer up their fresh faces to be anointed as the representatives of a new Mormonism.

We're talking about the Mormons who got the bill against workplace discrimination passed last month.

Prop 8 was back in 2008-2010, with some straggling appeals afterwards.  The gay rights landscape has changed a lot since 2008, especially for the conservatives.

Categorically, demonstrably false.  After an enthusiastic round or two of coitus, however, they may break down crying and insist that you go with them to see the bishop (pastor) and repent.

Like any other sexually repressed culture, horniness leaks out all the time - just a matter of finding such leaks before they get plugged up, so to speak.

Yeah, but a strong counter-argument is that plural marriage, if made legal, would also have to work both ways, one wife with multiple husbands.

I think that polygamy with multiple wives is a bad idea based on evidence so far. FLDS communities literally run-off their young men to hoard the women for themselves, and many muslim nations end up using surplus young men for sectarian violence or jihad. Farkers aside, denying a chance for a mate or for sex causes problems.

Gee, ya think they should have done that before bankrolling Prop 8, or was that one of the most expensive trolls in US history, given the USSC decision?

As far as polygamy, Islam will probably be the push behind legalization.  As far as the LGBT community, yeah, Salt Lake City's been a haven for a long time.  Something about Mormons generally being against beating gay people up over the years.

They must have found out that would include woman on woman, and they already were allowing that as a way to keep the wives happy while hubby was with the third or forth wife.  Or maybe they are considering the idea of having another man in the marriage would mean the first husband would have less house maintenance choirs to do.  You got to admit, have several wives nag you to repaint the kitchen gets old real fast.

Time passes, things change; people change, and sometimes for the better.

I'm not a big fan of churches in general, but I've still got respect for any group of people that can repent when they realize that they were wrong.  It looks like the Mormon senators are repenting of earlier efforts to advocate iniquity based on sexual discrimination.  Institutions don't slouch towards progress easily, and it also can't be easy being the first Republican senators to push for workplace equity for gays, but it's really nice to see that some conservatives are starting to think harder about what "All men are created equal" really means and whether, if God loves all his children, there isn't something perverse in how his children have been treating each other.  When you recognize changes in attitudes like that, there's a chance for more progress.
