Good thing Florida is the only state in the country that has bears.

There's a bear that lives behind my house that likes to tear into underground hornets nets.

Bears are native to the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. Any bear in a state as far south as Florida must have been brought there or escaped from a zoo breeding program.

When are we going to learn that wild animals should be left to the wild and not caged up in zoos? When things go wrong, like in this case, both humans and the wild animals suffer.

You do know the range of the American Black Bear includes FL, right?

/They also hang out around my parents' house in PA.
//Probably not the same bears spotted in FL.

I'd be surprised if they were the same black bears. It's hard enough to drive all that way from Florida to Pennsylvania. It'd be even harder to lumber up there on all fours, especially having just escaped from the zoo.

Subby is exactly right, you, and more importantly all of your elderly relatives, should stay FAR FAR away from Florida. Our local bears are ruthless and vicious hunters. They are extremely attracted to blue hair and spray on tans. Their acute sense of smell allows them to identify and prey upon those those with hip replacements.

Scary business indeed.

What, so all black bears look alike to Florida authorities?

// that bear is just walking home with iced tea and Skittles, not threatening anyone

If that were true Tampa would be overrun with black bears based on the size of the food supply alone.

Hated that place with the trailer parks and run down apartments packed like sardines every available 1/4 acre. Stuffed with shut-in blue hairs with their A/C on 65.

WHY THE FARK DID YOU MOVE TO FLORIDA IF YOU CAN'T STAND 80 DEGREE WEATHER?!?!

Not sure if serious.

There are native bears in more states than not. We have black bears in Connecticut for crying out loud.
