Well, at least it wasn't a live animal.  That was what I was really afraid of.  Still, a-holes in every nook and cranny of the word.  Film at 11.

I used to be a fan of HuffPo, until they started dropping in auto-playing videos that you can't pause on their friggin' site.

Last year, me and my buddy decided to go with a Burning Down the Goat theme for our December gig. We had a smallish straw goat on top of the mixing board, and after the gig we torched it outside.

Join the dead pool!

I'm betting the goat isn't going to be burned before Christmas this year.

Good news, Wikipedia has a nice article on the Gävlebocken (ävle_goat  ) which includes a history, timeline, footnotes, references and statistical analysis of goat burning.  The story of the goat is hilarious and involves bribery, the Swedish military, archery, freezing the goat so it wouldn't burn (it did anyway), jail time for foreign nationals, a back up goat (that was also burned to the ground), car crashes, denial-of-service attacks, public intoxication, British gamblers, fireworks, webcams and an evil gingerbread man that no one managed to catch.

The goat has a bilingual Twitter feed in Swedish and English.  It cheerful tweets about the weather, visitors, the joy of the holiday season and dieing in a fire.

I'm all for goat mounted snipers this season, to show you're serious. "Your uncle Donnie would have loved to see it, but he got capped a couple years back:". Rule of thumb is to at least try to stop them before they breed.

okay, seriously - this had been going on since 1966. they ought to just embrace the burning at this point.

I'm surprised they don't hold a raffle.

See, this is why we can't have nice things.

I actually saw it burning on the webcam last year, though I didn't see the fire starting.
