In the film, it resulted in the destruction of said battlestation.

Not an entirely apt comparison, since the Star Wars universe lacks the special combination of concentrated ignorance and evil of the Tea Party.

Yes IRS, showing yourselves to be a highly politicized branch of the DNC was a clever move indeed.

I would have said Gungans but at least if they aren't Jar Jar they keep to themselves and don't spread their Gunganery around the universe.

The Tea Party is much more like the Neimoidians.

"...but it said the agency may not yet have a system in place to stop tax cheats seeking to underestimate their incomes and fraudulently cash in on health subsidies."

So a half assed implementation that would allow abuse and fraud is now marked in the victory column? Way to set those sights low.

/good enough for government work I guess.

The entire CIS could be compared to the modern-day Republican Party. An amalgamation of upset, unreasonably wealthy oligarchs and business moguls commanding an enormous horde of cheap, expendable mooks to destroy civilization for no well-defined reason.

the phrase "good enough for government work" used to mean that whatever was being talked about was actually done quite well. It was during either doublya doublya one or doublya doublya two and it was applied to items being made for the soldiers overseas.

"Only a Sith deals in absolutes," a statement which is an absolute. Hence Rand Paul is a sith.

That's one thing I don't get about the EU. Wouldn't the CIS just be a Randian nightmare? Why would anyone want to live in it?

Well yeah, they both love setting up bases in unpopulated hellholes. They both have a charming thief in the leadership. They both have delusional farm kids listening to stories of magic. They both plan their attacks horribly and suffer lots of casualties. And they both get ground victories by convincing simple-minded creatures to help the cause. QED.

Who builds a Death Star? Evil.

Who doesn't at least put up some plywood to shield the thermal exhaust port? Concentrated ignorance.

Only semi-related, but I have a second Death Star ornament on my Christmas tree that plays that quote every time the timer turns the tree lights one. Now I associate Christmas with Emperor Palpatine blowing up some rebel ships.
