?? I don't get it. But I forgot about Heath Bell. I thought he still played for Miami. Also, in the article the DBacks are talking about bringing back Eric Chavez?? I really haven't been paying attention. I thought he retired or was with the Yankees.

No Heath Bell was blowing leads for the Diamondbacks last year.  The Marlins were smart to get rid of him.

Thank God....Tired of my wife screaming at the TV all last season every time he left the bullpen.  We would turn the channel by the end of the season when he came out just knowing he was going to blow the lead.

Bell can suck just as bad in Florida than he ever did in Arizona.

Meanwhile, with the dubious exception of the 76-year-old Marlon Byrd, the Phillies plan to offer contracts to every guy who played for the team the past three years.

Ruben Amaro doesn't have a clue how to build a winner and just hopes lightning will hit the shiathouse.

Ryan Howard has three years left on his deal. Time to give him a contract extension.

Rube apparently believes that the "odds" will overcome the classic definition of insanity ones of these days.

*IF* Howard stays healthy, and *IF* he hits the way he used to, and *IF* Chase Utley's knees don't explode, and *IF* J-Roll actually learns how to do situational hitting, and *IF* John Mayberry finally has his long-awaited breakout year, and *IF* Dom Brown can recreate his two-month performance for an entire season, and *IF* Ruiz finds a way to sneak some Adderall w/out getting caught, the offense might not completely horrible.

And *IF* Kendrick suddenly morphs into a 15-game winner, and *IF* Papelbon stops sulking long enough to focus, and *IF* the rest of the bullpen stops finding ways to creatively blow games, maybe the pitching will be slightly-better-than-mediocre.

Sure sounds like the most no-doubt-about-it bet in history, to me.

7 yr / 152MM.  Yankees being the Yankees I see.  I'll miss him, but significantly less so knowing that was the contract he got.

The money, the injury history, the age range...sure hope it works out.

You know Marlon Byrd was always lying about his age. You know, Frank Sinatra sat in this chair and I asked him.. I said Frank, how old is Marlon Byrd? He said Marlon Bird was 135 years old.

Flurry of signings just now, sounds like. Was surprised by the Red Sox signing AJ Pierzynski. He'll be 37 next season. Tigers are getting Joe Nathan. Curious how Ellsbury works out in NY. Seems like another in a series of crazy Yankee deals.

It is the Yankees being too worried about weakening the Sox and not trying to actually build a championship team.
