I've worked at a stadium, that policy is explained in employee orientation. Whether it is a bullshiat rule or not is debatable, getting fired for violating when it is in place is the employees fault not that of the employer.

Everywhere.  Most of the jobs where you're likely to come in contact with celebrities are pretty strict about not pestering them for such things.  Could you imagine all 100 or so guards bugging Tom Brady for a picture after every road game?

Ding, ding, ding.

While in graduate school, I worked as a restaurant manager at a private club on Chicago's North Shore. Many Chicago-area athletes and celebrities were members: Michael Jordan, Dave Wannstedt and virtually every member of da Bears, local TV personalities, politicians. I interacted with MJ, his then wife, their kids, and hell, even his parents and in-laws on a regular basis. Asking for autographs or posing for pictures was frowned upon, if not grounds for a firin'. Those security guards knew the rules.

FTA: "Williams said he understood the policy that security guards were not permitted to take pictures with people while on duty but said he was ready to clock out when he ran into Brady"

You kind of shot yourself in the foot there, Mr. Williams. You have been fired from a part time security job. Your next step is the TSA.

Facebook comment says it all: you gotta cut them some slack - it's the Texans stadium, how often do they get to see a NFL quarterback in person?

What sucks is that next time Tom Brady is approached by stadium staff, he's gonna have to be the bad guy and blow them off, or be responsible for their losing their job. Not a fair position to put him in.

When I was a kid, my father was a member of the Marine Corps Color Guard at Continental Divide Raceway at a USAC(?) race, back in the '60s. After the race, he was standing near the winner's circle with my mother and us kids when A.J. Foyt, the winner of the race walked by surrounded by his entourage and track officials. My dad called out, "Hey A.J.!" Mr. Foyt stopped, saw my dad in his dress blues, and immediately walked away from all his hangers-on, and came over to meet my dad and our family. He talked to us for a good 10 minutes, took a picture with us, then told my dad, "Sorry to cut this short, but I gotta go deal with these assholes." I still have the picture.

Your Dad, clearly, should have been removed from his position. It would/should have been your fault.

Its a pretty dumb rule, but, it does make sense. We have the same rule at work, but, I've never seen or heard about it being enforced.

Texas rent-a-pig who is a Brady fanboy. He wont get much sympathy here.

Brady or Kraft's publicist will undoubtedly hook this kid up with another part time job in the next 72 hours, as well as get him tickets to the next home game. No way they let this publicity opp escape them.

Considering that he's about to graduate with a masters degree in public administration, I think he'll probably be OK.

Wow. That "Brady Rule" the NFL has is strict. Only Giselle is allowed to be within five yards of Brady.

I was working at a drag race where Billy Gibbons from ZZ top was the ceremonial whatever.  I was posted at the entrance to his executive box thingie and when he walked up I couldn't stop staring at his GF/Wife.  I think I had that far away look while I was wondering if she was a paid escort or gold digger or whatever.  She must have noticed me staring from about 20 feet away and walked over and introduced herself.  I just kind of melted there since she was really hot and very nice.  Felt like a total idiot.

Funny that everyone was following Billy around and gawking, and later I saw what was probably Dusty Hill just walking around in anonymity.

Being a security guard is a shiat job. Anyone who is 'good' at it or enjoys it is a crappy person to be around.
Everyone else hates doing it. These guys are better off.

Currently work at Sports Authority field at Mile High, and it is also made VERY clear at this stadium that you are not to talk to or take pictures of any players, let ALONE getting your picture taken with one..duh

No kidding. I worked backstage at concerts for years. It was big time no-no to bother the "talent". Understandably, anyone could get their buddy/girlfriend/relative a temporary job for harassing, pictures, etc.

He was hired to work security, not pose for pictures.

Also, Security guards at stadiums/arenas are some of the biggest a-holes I ever encountered. I guarantee if someone who wasn't these guys tried to approach the QB, they would have tackled, tazed, detained and kicked them out of the stadium.

If you took a job so you could hang around people you idolize but the condition of that employment was that you're never allowed to interact with them, wouldn't you become an asshole? I mean, you're there 8 hours (or however many hours) and you have to act like they're not there the WHOLE TIME, then some drunk assclown is just going to go up and talk to them? It's like having to be a eunuch in order to be the guard for the harem.
