tommyl66: mentallo69: people that say they dont know how the Seahawks will do in cold weather in NY.

Have you been to Seattle, its cold  and rains here. I think the Hawks will do just fine in the cold weather.

Does it ever get truly cold in Seattle, like single-digits cold? I was under the impression the weather is 41 degrees with a 75% chance of rain for 365 days a year.

Your impression is ridiculous and uninformed.

IAmRight: Cam Newton is nowhere near the leader or overall QB that Russell Wilson is.

I'd argue both points. I'd call Wilson a better leader "out the gate", but Cam has matured a lot in that respect. He's not the same egomaniac he was his rookie year, or the pouting child he was last year.

Rent Party: IAmRight: Rent Party: Oh I know.  But I look at Wilson, and I think "Man, what would he be like if he were six inches taller?"

And I know the answer.   He'd be Cam Newton.

If you took away all the off-the-field stuff that makes Wilson a thousand times better than Newton.

The only off the field stuff I'm aware of was the NCAA violations.  And frankly, fark the NCAA.  He's not a criminal, and outside of that, I don't give a crap what players do off the field.   I'm not looking for a son-in-law.

And did I mention fark the NCAA?

Newton left florida after a burglary accusation or something. Stolen laptop I think.

True, Newton has stopped TRYING to be the star and has since become the star. The NFL isn't a place where you come and run roughshod over everybody and he finally figured it out. That said, I'll take Wilson over him 7 days a week and twice on Sunday.

mandoskippy: IanMoone: mandoskippy: Flynn gets the Jake... *sad* GO Pack go ....

No I think it's going Harvard yard

If Harvard Yard is Ryan Fitzpatrick, lemme give ya some stats:

R. Fitzpatrick: 21/37 201 yards. Avg: 5.4, 1 TD 3 INT 1 Sack QBR 37.9 RTG 47.2

M Flynn: 10/20  139 yards, Avg: 7.0 0 TD, 1 INT 7 Sacks, QBR: 2.1 Rtg: 51.9

I guess maybe you could say Fitz screwed the pooch more with the INTs but 7 sacks? JEEEEEZ

The Jake only cares about turnovers. So while Flynn was leading before Tennessee took the field, Fitz had the 3 INT and a fumble for the win.

Now if we want to start an award for McSacked (in honor of the latest winner) for most time sacked in a game with going Full McSacked when the game ends in a tie.........

I'll say until I'm dead that using SB rings as a means of evaluating QB play is basically saying that Trent Dilfer was better than Dan Marino.

This one's tricky.

The picture's Rex Ryan at that UFC event in Miami before the Super Bowl a couple years back, the Ft. Worth resident is the legendary sportswriter Dan Jenkins, and "the red light camera" is the Steelers' O-line this year?

I know the first two, the third one's just a guess.

I actually went to take pictures of the intersection last night to include in my evidence for the case. The light is artificially short, the posted speed limit varies 10 mph in a 6 foot space, and while I was standing there on the empty road the camera was flashing taking pictures of nothing.

It's all a huge scam. Really pissed about that whole company. Texas legislature has a bill waiting to effectively take the teeth out of the enforcement so maybe we'll see them gone soon too.

That game, more than just about any Week 1 game I can remember, really showed what the core of each team was. Stout defense with the Seahawks being just that much better in the end. I said from that game that the Panthers were legit this year and no team should take a game against them for granted. I assumed they'd end up 9-7 or something, but they really turned it on.

Based on the RoY awards, all those rushing and passing and rushing records, and prow bowl trips, one might argue otherwise.

In fact, given his size and speed, Wilson and Newton are exactly the same kind of QB, except one is bigger and more accomplished.

2013-12-03 03:34:53 PM

Rent Party: That's entirely not the point.

The point is that he puts in a billion hours a week studying the game and that improves his play on the field. If he was the size of Newton, maybe he would've been lazy all along like Newton, getting by on the fact that he just had more talent than everyone else. But he was short, so he spent his life having to be that much better than everyone who was prototypical height. If he's as tall as Newton, he probably wouldn't be as good as he is.

If you're not the prototype, you tend to have to be much better than someone who is just to get looked at, much less start. There is literally nothing that Cam Newton is better at than Russell Wilson except being tall.

2013-12-03 03:35:37 PM
When Newton wins a game for his team by throwing an interception, then we can talk about how he is approaching the level of Wilson. Until then, the matter is settled, Wilson is vastly superior.

Lucky LaRue: nmrsnr: 3) New Orleans (5)

How are you going to put the 'Aints over the Panthers?  They are both 9-3, and they have nearly identical schedules and the Panthers only lost to Seattle by 5 points (and that during the rough start they had at the beginning of the season).  There's also the fact that Panthers beat New England this year and the Saints didn't.

You, sir, are WRONG!

Wouldn't be the first time. But looking at the numbers, it's because of the Saints' stomping teams early in the season while the Panthers lost to the Bills that made the difference. The Panthers haven't caught up to the hole that left between their rank modifiers yet. The fact that the Saints lost to the best team also means that the loss didn't hurt them as much as the Panthers' losses.

They are the same "type" of QB just like Wilson is the same "type" of QB as Griffin or Vick. Wilson is a smarter player and better passer than Newton. He'd have that Panther squad at 11-1 too.
