They're still 9-3 and tied for the division. but last night was a thorough ass kicking, topped off by their plane being grounded and being forced to stay in Seattle. Not a lot of defenses are built to stop Brees, but if you can cover deep, you have a shot to beat them. Forcing Brees into check downs and swarming to the ball is the key. The odd stripsack TD doesn't hurt either.

Good job Saints.  Everything the San Francisco players have been s**t talking about have been correct.  Your soft.  All the talent, none of the heart.

Even fricken Tampa Bay had enough heart to at least show up.  You do have excuses though, it was a bit chilly.  Some people even needed a jacket.

i1.ytimg.com

I'm not even sure they'll win the division anymore.  Carolina has a tough defense and shows heart.  The Saints auto-lose in Carolina (that whole being outdoors thing), and will probably need Hartley to kick 8 field goals at home because they sure aren't going to put up any touchdowns in the second half.  Look it up, they haven't scored a second half touchdown since the Dallas game.  THE DALLAS GAME!

Sad ...

Now that that's all dispensed with - the Seahawks are too damn low.

FuManchu7: Your soft. All the talent, none of the heart.

I didn't really watch the game last night, but taking on the best team in the league in their own house and losing, even losing big, doesn't prove too much about the Saints, in my mind.

At any rate, here are the FARK/FAIL ratings for week 14, all in all pretty close to ESPN:

1) Seattle (1)
2) Denver (2)
3) New Orleans (5)
4) Carolina (3)
5) New England (4)
6) Kansas City (7)
7) Cincinnati (8)
8) San Francisco (6)
9) Indianapolis (9)
10) Arizona (13)
11) Dallas (11)
12) Detroit (12)
13) Philadelphia (10)
14) Baltimore (14)
15) Miami (17)
16) San Diego (16)
17) Chicago (15)
18) Green Bay (19)
19) Pittsburgh (18)
20) Tennessee (21)
21) St. Louis (20)
22) New York Giants (22)
23) Buffalo (24)
24) New York Jets (23)
25) Cleveland (27)
26) Oakland (25)
27) Tampa Bay (26)
28) Atlanta (29)
29) Minnesota (28)
30) Jacksonville (31)
31) Washington (30)
32) Houston (32)

Parentheses are ESPN's ranks

The Eagles Are Too Damn High: -3 compared to ESPN
The Cardinals Are Too Damn Low: +3 compared to ESPN

/goddam it Redskins, why are you so bad?

The Lions beneath the cowboys?  Please.

2013-12-03 01:42:37 PM
Not for nothing, but even with them both being at 7-5, I think the Cowboys should be ahead of the Eagles, especially considering the 17-3 shellacking they got earlier this season.  And Dallas has no decent teams to face for the rest of the season... Bears, Packers, Redskins, each one a little worse than the last.  Final game's the Eagles again, so I guess the rankings will work themselves out.

As an Eagles fan, I agree.  I don't see how you rate them higher than the Cowboys (*spit*) when the HtH match between them wasn't pretty for the Birds.  They're a hell of a lot better than I thought they'd be at the start of the season, but their record against good teams should keep them out of the top ten.

That said, i wonder about your rankings when the Cards are three places higher than the Eagles, for exactly the same reason.

BTW, are we sure that the Seahawks don't just narc on a CB each year in order to motivate everyone else? They have murdered teams every time they get a dude suspended.

Glockenspiel Hero: That said, i wonder about your rankings when the Cards are three places higher than the Eagles, for exactly the same reason.

It's based on strength of opponent in the week they played. Basically it comes down to the Cardinals beat the Colts who are doing very well, while the only good team the Eagles beat are the Cardinals.

2013-12-03 02:00:39 PM
The Seahawks streatch into the playoffs is not looking as door-matish as it once did. SF, NYG, AZ, STL are all dangerous right now. Thankfully, AZ and STL are at home and all we need to do is go 2-2 to lock up the 1 seed.

They don't lose at home in games in which the crowd doesn't give a fark, but those are a lot closer.

NYG are still garbage. They haven't beaten anyone even at the level of AZ or STL. (You could claim Philly, but they beat Philly with Barkley at QB).

Don't know how they'll do in NY/NJ for the Super Bowl, but I don't see a chance in hell of another NFC beating Seattle in the playoffs as long as they hold home field. With a 2-game advantage and only 4 games to go, I don't see much likelihood of them losing that advantage to anyone, either.

The only thing that bothers me is that if we beat SF this week, going into NY in an early game 3000 miles away with the #1 seed all but locked up could lead to quite a let down.

To be fair, they beat the 'Packers', who have pretty much given up on football until they can bolt a new arm onto Rodgers.  That said, I agree that they should be above Dallas, just by virtue of having squeaked out that win earlier.  Should be an interesting game against the Eagles.

It's time for YOUR week 13

FARKISTAN EXTREME ELIMINATION CHALLENGE

UPDATE

After Starting with  54 players back in the shadowy realms of week 1 when the Atlanta Falcons were considered a play off favorite, we were down to a mere  3 players coming in to the week 13 games. And after gorging themselves on pumpkin pie, leftover turkey and the greatest thanksgiving foodstuff of all, beer, green bean casserole, the FARKISTAN EXTREME ELIMINATION CHALLENGE lost a whopping 33.33% of its player base. Yes, Ladies, Gentlemen, Bunny & Di, we are down to a mere  2 survivors.

Let us take a moment to commiserate with our bronze medal recipient:

Daedalus27, who picked the  Chicago Bears to beat the  Minnesota Vikingsbut was thwarted by a combination of wind and our  Eliminator NFL Player of The Week, Mr.  Blair Walsh, of the said Vikings.

But what of our surviving duo?  Who are the two Farkers locked into a four week Thunderdome from which only one can emerge victorious?

I'm glad you asked. The survivors are:
Senorbenedict who picked the  Carolina Panthers to beat the suddenly-frisky  Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which they preceded to do like the hapless Bucs were a government mule, which is why this prediction gets the coveted  Wizard Hat Of The Week!

wjllope's WAGs correctly predicted that the  New England Patriots could overcome the woeful Case Keenum-led  Houston Texans and after some serious squeaky bumtime, was also vindicated.

That's all for this week, and remember:

DON'T! GET! ELIMINATED!

She's a Cowboy fan and the Seahawks produced the most pictographically brutal moment of Romo's career while simultaneoulsy knocking the 'Boys out of the playoffs on an improbably FUBAR'd chipshot game-winning FG. That plus us Seahawk fans incessantly posting the Romo-grabbing-his-facemask-while-sitting-in-defeat-on-theCentury-Link- field pic that I would post here, but I promised Di I would not anymore.
