OK, may I ask....What precisely does this farking country have against nudity?  I get the sexual aspect (father of four) but really?

Aren't we basically creating an environment where our children will grow up ashamed of their own bodies BY DEFAULT?  Because all we could do is sit around and whine about naked people?  "Oooh..close your eyes, the big bad boobie will get you!"  This is doubly important for girls.

...and then we wonder why they're all in therapy for eating disorders.

Billy Bathsalt: reillan: James10952001: I really don't get the connection between coffee and sex. I can go on the Internet and find more pictures of hot naked girls than I have time to look at.

I don't get the outrage either. If you don't want to buy overpriced coffee from girls in bikinis or whatever, don't go there. When was the last time someone was hurt by seeing some boobies? The shame in the human body is baffling to me in this age. What is so awful about naked people?

Someone opened a bikini coffee stand here in Tulsa.  Briefly.  It died quickly not for laws but for lack of people interested in having their coffee served to them out of a pop-up tent at the corner across from Hooters and... nothing else.  I simply enjoyed laughing at it.

Why do you hate business, and America?

This 30 second interaction with a flirty little 22 year old with nice skin is probably the only happy thing some men get all day. Think of the guy who commutes daily from his tedious day job to his soul crushing nag of a wife. His little coffee run might be the only thing keeping him from screaming "LOOK AT ME!" right before blowing his brains out all over another half assed dinner and Ikea furniture.

A Cave Geek: Aren't we basically creating an environment where our children will grow up ashamed of their own bodies BY DEFAULT?

Created, not creating. That's existed for basically forever. There's been counter-culture pushback in a sort of pendulum swing (think 60s with bra burning, free love, and the like) and with all the mixed messages that come with it.

What's new is that with the mainstreaming of the internet, the effect is wildly amplified. On the one side, we have 'rape culture' and 'slut shaming' and other forms of sexual repression; on the other, we have mass media (advertising and now gaming culture) shoving wildly unrealistic (and unhealthy) body images and relational attitudes and other sexual pressures on our youth, both male and female. (Although our young women are very much taking the brunt of it.)

Japan may be a warning of our future.

Hasn't the "community" already decided since the owner is still in business?  Takes a lot of customers to generate enough revenue to keep a coffee shop of any sorts afloat.

It is interesting as a double standard. If hetero men complained about some business with nearly nude men in their community, they would be accused of "homophobia".

This. If the "community" doesn't buy the product/service, then the "community" shows they don't want it. If they partake in outrage but buy the product, then there isn't near as much actual outrage as they claim. There had been that kind of place around here just down the street from a community college. I expected it to do pretty well; it bombed hard. Turns out while guys will pay to sit and ogle hot girls over beer and wings, they won't do it for coffee. At least, they won't do that here (maybe just not for the girls who were working there... the only one I had seen was a real butterface).

DigitalCoffee: Be nice to know exactly whet TFA considers to be 'nearly nude'. Is it bikini? A string bikini? A thong? Short shorts and tank-top? Just WTF are they talking about? Journalism at it's finest; say something vague without giving any clarification or pictures.

From the Facebook link a bit up the page it looks like it's a string bikini top.

So they're pretty much trying to determine how much clothing they want baristas to wear. Since a bikini top is generally considered clothed enough to be out in public and presumably the people aren't trying to make them go full burkha, the line they want to draw is in the neighborhood of a T shirt or even tank top. But they'll have a rough time articulating what makes less than a tank top but more than a bikini top unacceptable. I suspect it's mostly that they just are offended that hot women are allowed to go about looking hot and using that hotness to drive business.

Meh, I don't need to pay money to be teased by girls that are out of my league. It's like being hungry and paying someone to let me look at a nice juicy steak. Never been real bi on make believe though.

shiat, I meant big, not bi. That sure didnt come out as planned. Goddamn autocorrect.

Soooo then, autocorrect changes when you type big to bi?  Do you text your wife that you have a bi dick waiting for her?

I guess it's more a case of big fingers. Touchscreens and I never have gotten along well.

No shame in being autocorrect-curious. Embrace your desire to fat finger.

I think television is more to blame. On the internet, people have to actively seek out the content they want to see; on TV, it's force fed to them. TV is also more ubiquitous, not just in the US, but around the world.

With the internet, there's also the equalizing potential of user-created content. On TV, it's mostly ratings driven.

If it's legal on the beach it should be legal at the coffee shops.  Bikini's and non-see through lingerie are also acceptable.  Pasties, and see through outfits, along with actual nudity I think are a little over board.  If you have to be 18/21 or older to see them at other companies then it should not be considered appropriate for a non-adult store.

/which is why I am found at the latter..
