I like Anchorman.  I think the Ron Burgundy character is ridiculously funny.  But the word "overexposure" comes to mind.  I'm already sick of Anchorman 2.

Isn't there anyone out there like me who just doesn't find Will Ferrell funny at all?

Him and Steve Carrell, I'd rather just sit and watch Paint drying. I don't watch Any of their stuff.

I didn't before the early 2000s but then he had a bunch of movies in a row (Old School, Step Brothers, Ricky Bobby) that made me nearly wet myself.  I'm a fan now.  I also think he's gotten funnier as he gets older - his timing and delivery are fantastic.

Hmm, judging by the rest of Riviera Imports' portfolio, I'm gonna guess this costs more than Dewar's, and tastes about as good as Crawford's. Although I must say, I just bought a bottle of scotch (Grant's) last night, and Ron Burgundy was the first thing that came to mind when I took a sip. Kinda makes me doubt this will be a flop in terms of promotional marketing.

/and that's all they ever care about

good choice. one of my favorites.

may i ask what you pay for a bottle? here, whole foods has it for $49, but i've seen it as much as $68 in smaller liquor stores.

Is the movie ever going to come out or is this just an endless ad campaign? Is this some new performance art thing where he's just seeing how long he can stay in character?

seriously THIS.  I refuse to watch the movie out of principle alone at this point.  I loathe sequels as it is though.

I was surprised when I saw an ad for Anchorman 2, as I had assumed there was already a crappy sequel and another crappy sequel, a la the Hangover.

$62.95 at the Virginia ABC. That's for the 12, which is my everyday dram.

Made by the same company that created a vodka named for an out-of-business British scooter company--Pride and Clarke. Review of said vodka: "This is a common well vodka at bars, and it smells recognizably like vodka, not like turpentine. It's pretty innocuous, with hints of lemon cleaning fluid up front, and pretty clean and smooth midpalate. The finish is a bit unpleasant, with hints of plastic"

I think I'll pass on this particular Scotch.

I think we'd probably get better prices if there weren't a state monopoly on booze. I've heard good things about what Trader Joes' has to offer in the way of whiskey, but I can't find out because the South is still retarded about alcohol.

I've always thought Will Ferrell's comedy would make a good Asperger's test.

Question 1)  Do you like the comedy stylings of Will Ferrell?

Teacher's always have the best alcohol. Though for some reason, they insist on calling their drinking parties "choir practice."

whether or not someone is funny is subjective so there's no right or wrong answer I think.

but IMO people who don't find Will Ferrell funny or people who refuse to watch silly-ass movies out of principle are taking their comedy waaaayyyy too seriously.

They can't all be gems, just get a few laughs and move on, it's supposed to be stupid.

or the short version: lighten up Frances

Don't know how close to MD you are, but the Montgomery County Liquor stores carry the 12 year double wood for $42. The 17year  is about 90.
Might be worth a trip to stock up.

Highlands and/or Speyside is for the weak of palate.

Give me Southern Islay or give me Bourbon. Ardbeg, Lagavulin, Laphroaig. Whiskey should punch you in the mouth, in a good way.

I saw the full trailer for it the other day when I went to see Ender's Game (which I liked a lot.)  I can pretty much guarantee that the funniest parts of the movie were shown in that trailer.  So I really can't see wasting money to watch the whole thing.

Look. I just want to see the old cast play a new spin on old hits. That's all I can expect from an Anchorman sequel.

I don't want Ron Burgundy label scotch.

I don't want Will Ferrell to pop up in a North Dakota news station.

Just STFU and show me the movie.

I think Semi-Gloss was a pretty good sequel, though why they were shooting for PG-13 is beyond me. Satin will always be my favorite, though -- just a little naughty and dangerous.

I picked up a bottle of the Trader Joe's 10-year single malt, mostly because the mere existence of such a thing amused me.  My verdict: good.  Not great, just good.

ph0rk: Highlands and/or Speyside is for the weak of palate.

Ah.  You're one of those who could be given a glass of charcoal crushed and dissolved into mineral water and find something good to say about it.  Me, I like subtlety in my whisky.  If I wanted to numb my palate with smoke, I'll enjoy the good stuff in a dive bar.

Also don't like Ferrell, Carrell, awkward humor... but you totally lost me with Python. I think there's a difference between US and UK awkward humor, in that in the UK versions, the awkward characters aren't usually trying to fit in to a regular world, they are off in their own. Flying Circus is totally different for me because of the surrealism. Hell, I even like Sheldon on BBT because he's not awkward trying to fit in, he's just being himself, and it's everyone else that's weird. Not so for shows like New Girl, Bob's Burgers, etc... I can't stand them.

It's that embarrassment humor. It rubs me the wrong way the majority of the time but I can at least watch Carell. The top offender for me is Ben Stiller.
