Actually, UGA should be replaced in Division I by Georgia Southern, since UGA is an absolute embarassment to sports.

Well since they beat florida what does that make them? A girls team?

The sad part is the biggest reason for their shiatty play isnt the current coach, its the previous coach who left nothing to work with, I kind of hope they fire him so georgia can hire him as D-coordinator and then kick your ass with him next year.

How many years in a row does florida get to play the "Urban left us nothing" card?

It wasn't really true three years ago and it sure as hell isn't true now.

Georgia Southern's already in Division I. They suck at basketball even worse than UGA does, though; they've never won an NCAA tournament game and haven't been to March Madness in more than 20 years.

Go ahead and fire him after 2014, Gators.  If Pruitt moves on to a head coaching gig after next year, we'll welcome Coach Boom with open arms as our new DC in Tally.  He and Jimbo were pretty good together at LSU, I hear.

To reinstate how much was gone from florida, over 1/3rd of Meyer's regular season losses were in his last season there and he didnt recruit for shiat the last year he was there, he knew this and is why he took off. The 2011 season would have been a disaster, his couldnt have his ego tarnished like that so he abandoned them. It was the pathetic, cowards way out. I loathe florida, so Im not defending them at all but Will missed out on all the big running backs and thats the kind off offense he likes to run, ball control with passing mixed in but since Meyer didnt recruit basically the last two years he was there it left him without contacts to those players.

So defend oscar all you want but this is his fault, Im kind of hoping they do fire him after this season and grantham leaves so that will comes home to UGA where he belongs then creates a defense to bully the SEC for years to come.

All those excuses and yet they somehow managed to go 11-2 last year with that supposed empty cupboard.  Weak excuses are weak.  All anyone hears when this nonsense is trotted out is sour grapes.

They had a running back who then left the very next year, please try and keep up or just quit arguing by defending your current coach, hes a piece of shiat and bailed on a program when he knew his offense wouldnt work.

Personally I hope they do fire him, it will allow UGA to snap him up to coach defense.

Far be it from me to defend the Chinless Wonder, but the facts say otherwise.  UF had the #2 recruiting class in 2010 per Rivals (#1 per ESPN) and the #12 class in 2011.  Their best defensive players -- Easley, Powell and Purifoy -- were all Meyer recruits.  (Purifoy signed in 2011 after deciding to stick with UF after Meyer left.)  Their best offensive player -- Burton -- was also a Meyer recruit.

Boom's done a great job with the defense (barring injuries that would've been the best D in CFB), and I think he'll eventually be a good coach, but he's done terribly on the other side of the ball.

What's happened at UF is its OL recruiting and development have been garbage, and its skill-position players haven't panned out.

So two years after Meyer left, a running back graduated and UF utterly fell apart. Clearly, Meyer is a monster deserving of all your petulant internet rage.

I don't jnow how anyone could keep up with the unholy pile of nonsense you regularly try to pass off as logic around here? The day your arguments start to make a shred of sense is the day I know I've finally drank too much in this lifetime.

Because the skill positions is what he concentrated on while ignoring Line recruits letting most of them get away to bama/UGA, its the one thing UGA can do is stop the run, they just cant stop a powder puff girls team from passing for 300 yards. As evidenced by letting a running QB have a career passing day against them.

Meyer ignored certain players and concentrated on finding more receivers, something he did at previous schools to be used as outlets for pass/running plays but that rarely works without a running back and he let all the best ones get away to lsu/bama/UGA.

The cupboard was bare when he left and it left a bad taste in HS coaches mouths who like it or not are in charge of steering these kids where to go and these kids trust them. There are quite a few schools around the lakeland/orlando area where the coaches wont even talk to meyer so he has to send his assistants in for visits he pissed them off so bad, thats not good since those schools are hotbeds of talent.

Apparently he's running around promising recruits they're going to run everything from a power running offense to an up-tempo spread.  I probably would too.  They're surrounded by FSU, UGA, Miami, Bama, and Auburn.  And all any of those teams are going to have to say?  "Hey, maybe we'll hire him as our DC when UF fires him next year."

Only thing one can really say for UF at this point is that Muschamp's been a good recruiter, so whomever takes his place is going to walk in on a boatload of talent.

There a whole lot of stupid in this one, but first of all, if UGA thinks the Orlando/Lakeland area is prime recruiting territory, I think we've figured out why it's a shiatty program, because that's easily the weakest of the major recruiting regions in Florida (behind Tampa, Jax, the Big Bend/Panhandle, and of course the goldmine that is South Florida).  Anybody with even a passing familiarity with Florida and recruiting can tell you that.

Not that it's bad recruiting territory.  It's great relative to most regions of the country, and it produces a few elite recruits.  But it's not even kind of great by Florida standards.

The cupboard was not bare when Meyer left.  Again: #11, #2 and #12 recruiting classes.  Much as I love the Lizards crumbling, in no way do rankings like that that justify the product on the field -- nor do they coupled with injuries.  It's Year 3.  Muschamp and Meyer recruited offensive linemen, albeit less so under the latter.  They mostly got beat on them (and, no, not by sorry-assed UGA -- UGA's recruiting isn't up to snuff, and its development is atrocious at every position but QB and RB).  Of those they did manage to grab, most of them either didn't pan out or left.  And for all the concentration on them under Meyer, their skill position players are garbage under Boom.  Once more: The best players on that team are recruits brought in by the Chinless Wonder.  It's not even really debatable.

And that's on Muschamp.  It's great to bring in what are, on paper at least, elite recruits.  Five-star recruits are a dime per dozen in Florida.  But if you can't evaluate them properly for the system -- something he can't do because his offensive hiring has been a train wreck -- and develop them, you're farked.  And that's coaching.

He did leave a bitter taste in HS coaches' mouths though.  (Thanks for Nick O'Leary, Urb!)  That suits me just fine.
