Let's get this thread started right, with nostalgia.

Wow.

I'm thinking that Giltric was citing the fact that Bloomberg did indeed call himself a Republican, but he was far to the left of most of the party.  Whereas Peter King also called himself a Republican, and he is far to the right.

Get a grip.

He was a republican for the span of 2001-2007, a democrat prior to 2001 and an independent since 2007.

Obviously that means he's a republican.

So EXACTLY the Tea-party equivalent

Interestingly, one of the more attractive things about President Obama as a candidate is his general outsider nature.  He was an outsider when he ran for Senate, and he is one of the most political outsider presidents I can think of.  The others were either governors or something eles for greater periods of time.

So this guy is going to try to be more outsider than the already outsider president?

Benevolent Misanthrope: Whereas Peter King also called himself a Republican, and he is far to the right.

No, he's really not. In fact, he tried to start a revolt against the Tea Party a few months ago (which went nowhere).

Peter King is an awful person. He unapologetically funneled money to the Irish Republican Army so they can conduct terrorism back in the day. He even said that he doesn't care if civilians are injured by the IRA since the IRA were justified to bomb the English.

But he isn't really that far right of the base Republican party. He is, like most other New York delegation Republicans, really far left of where the party is. It's only a few whackobirds like Carl Paladino who represent the extreme wing of the GOP, and he couldn't get elected in NY.

Not always. Not usually, really.Sometimes it just seems... necessary. Like when a trollio trolly Farker goes all apoplectic because someone called a politician who identified himself as a Republican... a Republican.

Your mileage may vary, but given that you just did the same thing, perhaps not.

That "trollio trolly Farker" was correct. Bloomberg once identified himself as a Republican, but he no longer does. Thus, it is inaccurate to call Bloomberg a Republican.

But I was being ironic

Like rain on your wedding day
or ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife...because seriously, that is a lot of farking spoons! Just think of how much space that many spoons would take! Of course the biatch cant find a knife! there are just too damn many spoons all over the place! I'd be surprised if she sould find the damn stove.  She must have some sort of cleptomaniac compulsion to steal the spoons from every restaurant she goes to!  They must see her coming and go 'here comes the spoon stealing whacko...

where was I?

You won't hear much more about it - all the sane, normal people have already forgotten that latest Benghazi, and the ever-fickle media have grown bored with the narrative, and are looking for fresh discord to sow and fear to promulgate.
Regular people are just gratefully getting their healthcare, and going about their lives.
Ranters will rant, bloggers will blog, dogs will bark - and the caravan will move on.
