Granted, the source is David Lee Roth.  I won't say he's a liar, but based on past performance he can be a little delusional about things.

"I was with Eddie at his house and we were working on new music" to Roth can mean "geez I just was showing him this guitar I built and played him a new power chord fingering I've been working on" to Eddie.

Do htey have more old demos that they could spice up?

Pretty much. I don't think David remembers he was ever kicked out of the band.

I am/was a huge VH fan (both DLR and SH versions, fark you Gary Cherone)...so I say this with a heavy heart...just give it up guys, it's over, it's done, it was great for a while, even awesome for a short while, but it's time to just stop.

How else is Eddie going to get liquored up on $5 bottles of booze and get pissed at someone?  His wife left him and even old oggling strangers get weirded out by him.  His last resort is promising some attention to David Lee Roth.

When you've had almost as many front-men as Spinal Tap had drummers, it't time to go.

Did you not hear the last album?  For an old act, they got a lot of airplay out of some of those songs, proving a) they've still got it and b) today's music sucks!

Admittedly, no, I did not hear the last album, other than the couple of tracks that were released for radio.  Mainly because my feelings about they should just stop actually preceded that.  IMO, they were awesome in the 80's and 90's.  The break up with Roth was unfortunate, but I think it could be chalked up as just another band that needed time apart.  It happens all the time....creative differences and all that.  The break-up with Hagar (and Anthony) was pretty much the beginning of the end for me.  Just seemed it got too personal and gossipy and that sucked.  The band had two good runs that encompassed 25 years or so.  It's time to sit back and enjoy retirement.

The latest album was very good. It was redone version of a bunch of the demos they did with Gene Simmons producing, plus some other old material, so it was "old" Van Halen with a few new songs thrown in.

I thought the last album was excellent. (Well, "Tattoo" was just okay, but the rest of it rocked.) Ridiculously catchy in places.

If they've got more stuff like that left, I'll be on board.

I almost didn't pick it up because of Tattoo. It was the first (and only) song I heard for about 2 weeks and thought "THIS is hte best they could do?".

I'm glad I, er, obtained a copy prior to purchase. Changed my mind.

1984 had Panama, so you can't call it garbage, but it was definitely a sign of the end...

THIS!

GnR without Slash & Duff is pale imitation.

VH without Michael Anthony is also pale imitation.

Regardless who is singing, that style of music depends on the musicians.

Gotta agree with the calls to give it up.  The songs out of the studio are good, but they just suck live.  I've seen every incarnation of them, and I even think the Cherone tour was better than this last time I saw them with Roth.  After seeing Sammy and the Wabos recently, I'd really love to see that VH lineup again - especially with Michael on bass and backup vocals.

That was the most obvious issue with their latest album.Roth is a great showman, not a great singer. The harmonies made the band that much better.

With the exception of 1984 (which was garbage) you have a reasonable and nuanced list.  I would switch VH1 and Fair Warning, though.
