Also, the Super NES game was bad.

I was wondering just yesterday why no one has compiled a list of 20 interesting facts about "Home Alone."

It's such fertile ground for such a list, and God knows the public is crying out for it.

timely sh*t, Uproxx.

Next, hook me up some facts about Leave it to Beaver!

The Home Alone 2 game was pretty good. Feel the same way about the movie as well, it's not as good as Home Alone but I enjoyed it quite a bit.

21.  If Macauley Culkin never did this movie, he would never have become this rich, he would never have financial lawsuits with his family, he would never have been molested by Michael Jackson and Hollywood executives, and he wouldn't look like he's been on the cusp of death for the past 5 years.  But it's so cute when he uses aftershave.

I don't mean to claim it's the pinnacle of gaming, but for a movie property game it was good. Much better than the 1st one, the level design was pretty good (especially the multi-story house with all the traps) and the whole tone feels right for the game, in my opinion.

someone should make a home alone "balloon defense style" game where you have to run around continually setting and resetting traps to keep the burglars out.

I had the PC game, which was different, and a little better. You had to set at least 20 traps before the clock reached 9pm, which was when the burglars got there. Then you had to get each of them to hit 10 traps, and you also had to try not to get caught or it was game over.

I used to have a Talkboy back in the day. It probably still works, wherever it ended up, since the thing was basically just a bulky cassette recorder. I still can't believe my parents ever bought it for me - I must have been unusually persuasive that year.

I had it for Sega Genesis. I don't know if it was any different to the NES but on the Sega it was very unfun.

Looking at the Sega version, it appears they are very, very different. Like it takes place in a whole other movie.

Here's some gameplay of the SNES version.

It's basically the plot of the movie as a platformer for kids, minus the toy shop.

...a Playboy from July 1989. In case you're wondering, the centerfold that month was Erika Eleniak, who's biggest credit at the time was a reoccurring role on Charles In Charge. She went on to have a recurring role on Baywatch.

Ahhh, but the woman on the cover was a Phoenix newscaster(Channel 12 or Channel 3, IIRC). My roommate had the same Playboy... I think it's also the featured issue on Under Siege.

Usually, these lists suck, but this one actually has cool stuff. Didn't know about John Candy's marathon shoot, and didn't know about Joe Pesci's F-bomb problem... Pretty sure I knew that Angels With Filthy Soulswas fake from the beginning, but now I can't remember what made me think that.

Anyway, good call, Subby, this is a time when an UpRoxx list doesn't suck. Kind of like those rare Cracked lists that are actually decent.

You know, I've never gotten that joke.  Are we led to believe he DOES shave?  I mean does he drag the razor across his face unnecessarily?
Or does he just pretend, like he may have done with his father.  And then the scream after putting on after shave is just mimicking what he has seen his father do?

Looks like (from the scene clips online) he never even puts shaving cream on. He puts on deoderant, combs his hair, and then slaps on some aftershave. Which, as anyone who has ever shaved can tell you, doesn't hurt at all if you haven't actually shaved.

She did, but I lost my all-the-way-to-the-elbow-rubber-gloves, so I think I only looked at that issue once, although it was usually in the middle of my roommate's floor, so I saw the cover almost daily. Not only was the guy a slob, but he was a farking wierdo(And not in the cool "eccentric" sense), so it didn't pay to touch even something tame like Playboy without protection...

"5. The reason Buzz's girlfriend looks especially "woof" is because it was actually the art director's son made up to look like a girl. Director Chris Columbus thought using a real girl's photo would be too cruel on the omg-the-world-is-ending psyche of an actual teenage girl. " - From the Article

So the thought of a child actress overthinking her role bothered him, so he MADE HIS KID PUT ON A DRESS AS A HIDEOUS GIRLFRIEND...

I don't see the problem. It's not like he's going to be traumatized that he doesn't make a very pretty girl in one throw-away gag in a movie.

you could say the same thing about the little girl getting made ugly... But if he's going to go flat-out P.C. with the choice, then dressing his own kid in drag is off the table too...

I don't know... The kid basically gets to look back and say "Wow, I would make a really ugly chick", and let it go at that, where every time the movie aired and the girl was around, she'd be reminded that the whole gag was that she was ugly. I can see why this would work out better the way it was done. Cross Dressing for comedy has gone on forever, and the punchline is usually that the dude doing the cross dressing doesn't look like an attractive woman in the least. That's the joke.

The kid probably thought it was hilarious. Or at least the dad would know enough to realize why his son needs therapy.

I mean, the probably could have found a 14 year old girl with thick skin and subpar looks, but that would have been one hell of a search. Their solution seems kinda thoughtful.

Think about how badly that hypothetical girl would be harassed if 4chan had existed when the movie came out.

I have actually never seen this movie. I was 15 or so when it came out, and Too Old To Like Kid's Movies. Fortunately I grew out of that phase, but despite working at Blockbuster for 4 years in the mid-late 90s, I never caught up with that one.
