Police being jerks to occupy retards and pot smokers etc. in the US is one thing, and those instances are worth griping about. If you attack my President's home, regardless of if I voted for him or not, I'm going to side with the cops who kick your faces off. So yeah, I reconsidered and it turns out we aren't even talking about the same thing. And if we were, these cops showed restraint.

This is exactly why we should biatch about the police in the US. Don't think that it can't happen here. Catch it early, before it escalates.

Yes, trollmitter, there are regions in the world where 'police authority' is abused to truly horrific levels, where we have little-to-no cultural influence, and no political influence at all. That in no way means we are required to ignore the relatively milder abuses (yet abuses all the same) in our own back yards, where we have some small influence on the political processes that make this possible. Just because we can't fix everything everywhere all at once, doesn't mean we have to stop trying to fix what we can, where we can.

AYUP

When I was stationed in Germany, England played Germany in the Cup and a few buddies went to Frankfurt not realizing this. They stepped off the train to riot police beating the sh*t out of everyone. One guy got all excited (well he was drunk), a Polizei ran up to hit him and one of our guys jumped in front and started shouting "Americans! Americans!". The officer stopped, turned around and just whacked some random guy walking by.

People bring the rocks. You'll notice later that during one of the pushbacks by the cops, that they gather up the rocks and get rid of them.

We have groups like this here so as to help make aware the abuses that authorities direct police to commit. In other places in the world, groups like this aren't allowed to exist or are harshly persecuted:

Has anybody else noticed that "it could be worse" has started to become a common retort when somebody complains about some social or political problem as of late? You see it all the time here in threads about poverty and income disparity. Somebody points out that there is considerable poverty in the U.S. and some idiot will chime in with a comparison to an impoverished central African nation, as if there's no problem unless it's an extreme problem. Like poverty only exists if you're only eating four meals a week and have nothing more than a thatch roof over your head and mud floors under your feet.

Now we get this dumbshiat headline implying that we shouldn't complain about police abuses here because they don't usually rise to this level of overt violence.

The fark is wrong with the current generations in this country? When did people stop being able to recognize that social problems exist across the entirety of a continuum and not just at either end of it?

I recently had the pleasure of hearing someone criticize the character Winston from 1984. "He had no reason to rebel. He had a job, an apartment, free gin and cigarettes. WTF was his problem?"

Our police aren't this bad because they have yet to be presented with the opportunity. I would be willing to bet my life that it's coming.

It's not conspiracy-nutty anymore to be concerned about the growing police state. But, it is shear ignorance to think that the militarization of police is harmless or in any way a good idea. If you know anything about conflict, side A will simply escalate their aggression to match side B. The only winning move is not to play.

/Ignoring is the root of ignorance.

Try the Italian police. They are freaking assassins with badges.

It still does not lessen my disgust with the peace officer/LEOs here. They are too often petty little napoleons.

I went to high school in Frankfurt Germany, much like any entitled teenage shiat, I got drunk at one of the American bars there (st. Charles place) and got into a fight. That night I learned 2 very important lessons, not everyone guides a fark that you're an "American citizen" and polizei have sprigloaded batons that they can play your bones like a xylophone with.

Which is a stretch to start with when the police in the US kill around 500 people a year. And yes, that includes cases where people draw down on cops it also includes unarmed folks who get murdered while fleeing a hurricane, or during no-knock raids because the cops were busting a home poker game or, like a farkers cousin (apologies, can't remember their handle), because they don't let the cops into their house without a warrant.

And that's not even starting on the folks who get beaten, tazered or otherwise brutalized on very flimsy reasons - for example folks in NM who are being subjected to forced and repeated anal probes in absurd drug searches following traffic stops.

Eh, if you notice, they're doing a withdraw and rush strategy.  Pull back in the shield wall til a large number of protesters are trapped with buildings on either side, then rush in and panic this trapped plug of people right into the ones behind them, hopefully dispersing the entire group down multiple different paths.

2013-12-02 09:18:29 AM
Unless there is a full-fledged revolt taking place, I'm going to have to say you just need to know when to leave the party.  If everybody else has cleared out and you are one of the few left, then yeah, you are going to be targeted.

I remember one time when I was at the Kentucky Derby, there was a couple farking on the infield and of course everybody gathered round to watch.  I was sort of on the outside watching people watching but as soon as I saw the KY State PoPo and their riot shields, night sticks, and chrome helmets, I just got the hell out of the area pronto.

/Common sense, where is it?

IN parts of the videos. You didn't actually watch more than about 10 seconds, did you? In the first video, there's a guy at about 1:30 that's already on the ground, injured. As the police run by, he does nothing, but every cop uin the area kicks him in the head or the ribs, or gives him a few smacks with the baton, then goes running on. He wasn't even a threat to the FIRST cop, let alone the 5th or the 10th.

Second video, you have a couple standing there, talking to the cops. About 10 seconds later, they're on the ground, and still getting beaten. Nothing seemed to precede it, definitely not an "attack".

But hey, don't actually WATCH the videos, because that would require far too much before you hop in and demand that the cops were right all along. Besides, watching the videos will disabuse you of that notion right quick.

If a similar sized group with similar intentions showed up in D.C. I can very well imagining the same kind of thing happening.  I think the people in the second video, which was also in the first, were being beaten up for making videos of what was going on.

Anyone else notice that cop take a good sized rock off his forehead at about the 3:05 mark?

2013-12-02 09:35:34 AM
I love when people whine about the police in our country. 9 times out of 10 there's a video of some special little snowflake thinking the law doesn't apply to him, doing his damndest to Darwin himself in front of a cop and getting everything they deserve. Entertainment!

Ooooohhh, SO worth a beating. Maybe 2 or 3 of them. How about the guy in the first video laid out on the side of the road that every cop stopped to take a swipe at as they ran by? Was has committing Unconsciousness with Intent to Die?
