Mid season finale? More like "Unnecessary break."

Anyone who has read the comics can certainly pinpoint one likely casualty.

Oh oh I know. Darryl right ?

One Bad Apple: Oh oh I know. Darryl right ?

Darryl can't die. The "badboy with a heart of gold" never dies is a Lifetime show/movie.

I wouldn't guess to know who lives and dies based on the comic as it's so far removed from the TV show as to be a completely different story anyway, but this scene certainly calls back to probably the most memorable scene in all the comics. Obviously they can't completely recreate that but they certainly can do a close approximation.

Still, it will be fun to see how it plays out. The Governor's new friends are suckers.

I usually don't bother with the Talking Dead but Lauren Cohen's going to be on with her British accent rrrawrr.

shiat, that doesn't mean she's going to die, does it?

I hope she doesn't die.  I'd actually be pretty surprised if they killed her off at this point.  I'd also be really surprised if the show goes through with one particular death that happened during the prison attack in the comic.  I don't want to spoil it here in case it does actually happen.

I would hope the Governor actually ends up dying tonight, though.  His story's done (again).  Time to let the character go.  Then give us the rest of the season of the group trying to find a safe place.  They better not introduce Negan until at least the season after next.

I'm hoping for "Never." That character is nothing but the Governor over again and the comics have ground to a halt narrative-wise since he was introduced. I can't believe Kirkman is going to give us a year of this nonsense. I'll stick with it to see what he comes up with next, but I surely hope the TV writers just avoid that entirely.

Kirkman is so obviously building up to an inner rebellion in Negan's forces it's silly too. Sometime in mid-2014 he'll show it and pretend it's a mind-blowing twist.

I just hope he doesn't introduce another sadistic Big Bad after Negan. If that happens, I might finally bail on the comics.

Given that the circumstances of that death have already been altered by an earlier death, I wouldn't imagine that they would necessarily be compelled to follow that particular plotline.  Besides, not killing that character definitely make whatever comes after tonight more... complicated? than that time period in the comic.

/hard to discuss while remaining sufficiently cryptic

I think that's pretty much all there is to discuss about it until it either happens or doesn't happen.

For "good guy" deaths tonight, I'm sure it will be almost entirely ancillary characters like Drunk Dog. I'm not sure about any of the hero characters getting it.

what sucks for me is i am not allowed to watch the show until Wednesday, due to girl issues. It's a rule, it's a thing, and having a lovely woman to watch it with makes it worthwhile, but that also means I have to evacuate this thread and basically avoid all entertainment sites because it's always SPOILER ALERT! ACTOR (insert name here) TALKS ABOUT TONIGHT'S SHOCKING EXIT!"

sigh. At least I'm up on the books.

doglover: Mid season finale? More like "Unnecessary break."

Not really. For a show airing Sunday nights it makes sense to take a break for the holidays and the football postseason so they don't have a dip in the ratings for the second half of the season. Hordes of zombies don't come cheap, and they need the ad bucks to help pay the prosthetic bills. It sucks but it is the ad-supported TV business model.

I actually think things in the comics picked up post-Negan. I like the idea of a war being fought in a zombie-infested world, and Negan forcing the disparate communities to come together, which a big step towards the establishment of a post-zombie civilization. Story-wise it moves things forward, and Negan is interesting to me because he is a smart villain who limits his brutality to what he feels is absolutely necessary to keep the communities under his control in line.

I think it is going to have to happen because Rick needs another punch in the gut from a dramatic point of view, and also because there needs to be a death so heinous that Lily is driven to do what she does.

I hate that kind of thing.

There's a web comic called Goblins that was really, really good for a biweekly D&D based comic. It was about the goblins trying to save themselves from adventurers, who barge in and kill families and steal everything. In about 2011 it was churned up to a froth with three disparate story lines all mixing together, the death of a main character, and a potentially climactic final battle with one of the best villains I've seen illustrated that ended with a "cliffhanger"; but really everyone could have told you the "secret" because of its obviousness.

So instead of just rolling with it or speeding up the process to limit the break to ten pages, he instead told the entire story in detail, including some admittedly brilliant things, but it was just last week that Goblins actually had the Goblins in it again.

Herschel is going to die.  Which is sad, because I really like Scott Wilson and think he's a bright spot, acting wise, in the cast.

I'm hoping Carol comes back to help kill off the Governor.  This plot line has really just stopped the show.  I didn't watch the last couple of episodes because I really don't give a flying fark about the Governor or his motivations.

The Walking Dead is a show in which its entertainment is about as lowbrow as TNA wrestling.

Homeland, however, is more akin to WWE entertainment, so I will be watching that show instead.

one thing i have noticed -- when they have someone on that knows the plot, when Hardwick asks a question that
might be revealing -- the camera focuses on him (as it would anyway) but the guest who has plot information must
have a hand signal that prevents the camera from moving to them -- it case it would reveal secrets.

Take a prison from a group with a collective survival IQ of 62 when you have a tank and low morals? That should take about 4 minutes.

Second half will have Tom Brady showing up tossing TD passes at the Walkers.

And for the Hardwick haters out there let me just say:

"Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Pre-Show".

Can someone give me a quick recap for the past two weeks.

I know the Governor came, met a family, fell in the hole, and then went on a run with the new camp....but after he killed? the guy on the RV I lost it.

/Been away, sick, and haven't had time to really catch up.  Did I miss anything besides that.....or is that about it?

Who dies? Herschel, Judith, maybe Beth (I hope not), drunk Dogg, and innumerable secondary characters we didn't even know existed.

Running from walkers with no walled base means Herschel and Judith almost HAVE to die.

So the Governor has a tank... does he actually have any shells?  It's also not exactly a fuel efficient vehicle in the apocalypse.

Basically it's just "The Governor's back." He killed the guy on top of the RV (his old henchman) and then another top guy took over, but the Governor seemed to think he was too soft to get business done, so the Gov killed him, too, and then got the remaining guy under control. Now it looks like he's going to organize some sort of run on the prison.

I wonder how dark they will actually go with this one. I don't think Herschel makes it out alive. I really don't want Beth to die.  Drunk Dogg dead? Makes sense. He doesn't seem to be going anywhere plot wise.
