Ha, people who like real football. The NFL couldn't have matched the excitement of the Alabama-Auburn game last night in 10 seasons.

You serious, Clark?

Very serious. The NFL is dull and boring. There is no passion there, just a bunch of rich guys collecting a paycheck from whatever team signed them this year. The only people who care are gamblers.

I interpret this as a weak attempt at a reverse-Chuck Norris joke: inventing an over-the-top negative claim.  The problem is that "loves Obamacare" isn't obviously negative, nor is it over the top.  Millions of people like it.

If I had to make a poster board sticking it to Saban & Obama, I'd go with "BCS.gov promise: By the end of November, the loss column will be working for the vast majority of Crimson Tide players.  The rest will need to learn how to read it."

Seriously though- where is your sound factual evidence that pig farking has gone rampant amongst republicans?  A couple of citations issued specifically for republicans engaging in attempted congress with any animal of your choice should lend a bit of credence to your accusation, although it would it still would not qualify as an entire base.

I like college and pro football for different reasons. College for the explosiveness and high scoring. Pro because I enjoy watching the very best athletes perform at their highest level, and that it is more of a chess match than the checkers game that college is.

It also helps that my alma mater is FSU and my chosen pro team is the Bengals and they're both at the top (polls and division) right now.

This. The leap from college to the pros is a HUGE step and not even Heisman winners are guaranteed any success. The teams are 'even' as far as talent is drafted, paid and dispersed (NCAA version: every decent HS player on the planet signs with Alabama) so it comes down to coaching and strategy.

And frankly, while I don't hate college, the lopsided scores we've been seeing every Saturday up to this weekend makes the current NCAA product a joke.

Actually I was lots more interested in the NFL a few weeks ago with the Bucs and Jags competing to see who could outsuck each other, the Bucs getting MRSA'ed up and having people in Hazmat suits clean the locker rooms, and the Dolphins with their hilarious bully controversy.

Now it's all sort of just mediocre and boring. If you're going to be lousy in the NFL, suck hard. Don't do it half-assed.

Confabulat:   The NFL is dull and boring. There is no passion.  The only people who care are gamblers.

Couple weeks ago when the NFL's elderly quarterbacks, humorless commercials and long stretches of nothingness became too much to bear, I got desperate and checked out Canadian football.  Oh yeah, I did just say that out loud from below the Franco-Maple line.

It was BC vs Saskatchewan playing in minus-fiddy-degree winds, stadium packed with devoted green-swathed fans and real electricity in the air.  Field is bit longer and wider, rules a bit different and players do indeed get paid a fraction of NFL stars.  That game was actually fun to watch as the players seemed lighter on their feet, more fluid in moving as a team and faster-adapting to needs and risks on the field.

Granted I've only seen one CFL game, but it was fun and worth the watch.

Yeah the cupcake games are a real travesty in college football. Then again, as a Gator fan, sometimes a Georgia Southern will change the way you see the world.

But even those games are usually offset by a decent game somewhere else. Yeah if you only watch one team you have about a month of wasted Saturdays though.

Pretty much this--gamblers and fantasy players. Atmosphere just seems sterile and corporate. Could be the wine 'n cheese types at Bank of America stadium in Charlotte, to be fair.

Yesterday was amazing, and the NCAA hoops tournament is one of the highlights of my personal sports calendar.

College fans are much more intense on average and the players seem to give much more of a fark, IMHO.
