Google f#@ked up YouTube when they integrated Google Plus.

Now, where I could see how many votes for 'up' or 'down' per comment, I can't see that.
Now, when I want to click someone posting a timestamp in a comment, to allow me to immediately reach that point in the video, I can't do that.
Now, if I want to try to remain quasi-anonymous, to just use my previous YouTube account, it won't let me.
Now, if I want to see comments posted in the order that they are being posted (as in, 2 hours ago, three weeks ago), I have a lot of trouble doing that.
Now, if I don't want to sign up for a Google plus account, I can barely comment to a video.
Now, if I want to...

And, of course, there is the lovely way that YouTube slash Google has treated your 'YouTube Inbox.' First, they removed it completely from your main page. Then, they hid it deep in 'Analytics.' Yea. Like people are going to think to look there. And now that Google Plus has taken over, even if someone does respond to your comment,  you won't find out in your Inbox.

Oh yea there are also multiple 'empty' comments all over YouTube now. Where it says 'from Google +' but there are no remarks because the person commented before Google Plus was integrated and for some damn reason their remarks aren't showing up as a result.

Then there is the beautiful way Google all but FORCED all this crap onto YouTube users.
The main concern seems to be privacy -- a lot of people have 'real names' on Google Plus but use semi-anonymous accounts (farker13423) for YouTube. By logging into  -- or being forced to log into -- Google Plus to comment, this option is out the window.

A seriously stupid and bad idea that Google is trying to play away from and insisting on doing despite all the idiots complaining. Don't get me started on all the bullcrap ASCII that morons are throwing into comments. "This is bob! Bob has a tank!"  I don't give a damn; you are flooding perfectly good (or what used to be perfectly good before Google Plus took over) comment threads. STOP IT.

YouTube, in a word, "sucks." And the majority of that reason is because of Google Plus.

Thudfark: HotWingAgenda: I don't really care about this video one way or another, but I popped in to point out that Alphax is technically totally right. When Youtube puts an age gate on a video, that's the very definition of internet censorship. Just ask the ACLU, EFF, Supreme Court, etc.

So the ACLU, EFF, Supreme Court etc ruled in favour of letting 10 year olds watch hard core granny porn? Niiiice.

I will grant the technicality, not the spirit. Age restrictions are terms of service, not restrictions of free speech, hence not censorship in the way most people see censorship. China farking with the internet is censorship, Russia banning all sorts of crap is censorship. Really big difference if you ask me. Troubling people to log in to see some t&a can't be seriously seen as censorship, it may be cryptofacism, but not censorship.

Censorship is any action taken to prevent someone from viewing material based on the censor's ethical or moral beliefs. When someone decides that only a certain group of people have the right to view something, that is censorship, period. It doesn't have to be done by a government body - an author can censor their own work, or a company like Google can censor user-submitted materials on their services.

puckrock2000: Kyosuke: Oh, and since no one else will: The video in question.

Unless Cruz suddenly changed her name to "John Cameron Mitchell", that's not the video in question.

This. While I certainly appreciated all the cavorting and writhing from Melissa George and company, I expected to see Penelope or Monica(preferably both) eventually join in on the fun.....

Needless to say, my disappointment is deep and abiding.

Master of the Flying Guillotine: Alphax: They are requiring a YouTube account, which also now requires a Gmail signup, which is why my old YouTube account no longer works.

So no, the rest of you do not all see it, unless you all have YouTube accounts.

Gmail requires a password too. I can't believe Google is censoring emails from people.

FOOL! Can't you see the repression inherent in the system? They're hiding everything form you! They don't want you to know the secrets to a longer, erecter penis! WAKE UP!

"Sign in to confirm your age."

So no, it's not available.

So requiring registration = censorship now. Neat.

(blinks)  That's a joke, right?

I think you need a bloody mary or something.

A swift kick in the dictionary might be more a pro pro

Since I still can't see the damned video, I'd say the censorship is pretty effective.

There was no nudity in that at all. Why are Steel Panther videos awash in naked breasts OK on Youtube but this ad is not?

Kyosuke: Internet users attempting to watch it are greeted with a message saying it "may be inappropriate for some viewers" and are asked to sign in to confirm their age.

THAT'S NOT CENSORSHIP, YOU TWIT.

In fact, that's the opposite of censorship.

Go on.. I want to hear how you explain that.

I thought it would be about that upcoming movie she has as a Bosnian war widow, or something.  That may be understandable.

Hot women in lingerie?  Don't hide that from the world.

BTW, I think YouTube makes you log in to confirm you're an adult.. and I used to have an account, but ever since they insisted I couldn't log in without signing up for a new gmail account, I've been refusing.
