Big difference between "don't like" and "don't trust", subby.

"I'm leery of everybody," said Bart Murawski, 27, of Albany, N.Y. "Caution is always a factor."

You always have to keep your eyes peeled and check your corners in the perilous urban deathmaze known as Albany.

Of course not. 99% of our children are kidnapped from their bus stops each school day. Halloween candy is universally poisoned. The government has repeatedly seized our arms.  THe list goes on.

Or maybe it's the constant government and business surveillance topped off with politicians who do what they want instead of what the the voters want.

Coin toss.

Not a detail nazi.  There's a lot of people I like, but only a few I trust.

It's just the result of "us v them" attitude... Us v the terrorists, Democrats v Republicans, my team v the other team, my state v the next state over... And there is not an end in sight.

IMHO, "distrust" is one of the prices we have to pay for multiculturalism.

/ not that monocultural societies like Japan have other problems...

Consider the source. NewsMax is in the business of dividing America. And their banner ads for their skewed polls aren't helping either.

the corporate media has done it's job of keeping Americans pointing fingers at each other and squabbling over petty things while being robbed blind by the man behind the curtain

1/3 like you for no reason
1/3 hate you for no reason
1/3 don't notice you.

I get that "like" and "trust" are two different things.
I don't think I've ever trusted someone that I don't like.
Although it is possible to like somebody, on a superficial level, without trusting them

Back when I worked retail there were a few customers I didn't really care for, for various reasons, but I still trusted most of them, at least so far as to not rip us off or whatever. On the flip side I definitely know people that I like, but wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them...

You can trust me that I distrust you.

I blame the advent of 24 hour cable news for making Americans paranoid and generally distrustful.

What the hell do you expect when we allow in millions of illegal immigrants from corrupt societies (cough - Mexico) and not expect their culture to shift ours?

If only we had elected Mitt Romney to the presidency, and Republicans to all other political offices all over the country, life would truly be peaches and cream.

I was once asked why I justify everything I say/do almost religiously. This article justifies that habit of mine.

/it's because no one trusts me and I'm just used to doing it that way.
//I don't trust anyone either.

Because of the time scale, virtually anything you point to as a cause might just be an effect.  My view is that everything basically feeds off of everything else.  Partisan polarization, internet-fed isolation, the shrinking numbers of 'traditional' families, falling educational standards and wussification, manipulative 'news', etc.  All we need is a way to solve everything at once.  Easy!

2013-11-30 07:03:09 PM
I was going to share this article with all my friends, but then I saw it was from Newsmax, and I don't trust anyone who would get their news from such a shady organization. So I had to unfriend myself.
