Ho. Lee. shiat.  We've now moved to a new level.  This was not a mob scene were elbows get thrown and it gets out of hand.  This was an isolated, 2-on-1 beat-down, outside a store, now with improved taser goodness.

I'm glad that a) I'm in Canada, and b) I never shop on Black Friday.

The closest I got to Black Friday was the circulars in the paper, but the deals were not that good. Certainly not worth tazing people over. It's not like they're giving the crap away. The stores aren't losing money here.

Now, this may sound like crazy talk, but I'm beginning to suspect that this whole "Black Friday" thing is a put on to whip gullible people into a frenzy and make them spend money that they would not normally spend on shiat that they wouldn't ordinarily buy by convincing them that they're getting an unbelievable steal of a deal when really the price they're paying is no better than they would pay by shopping around a bit on any normal day.

Yeah - retailers called it "Black Friday" first - it was the day they went from red to black in the ledger.  That should tell you something about who benefits most.

Good thing that hoodie wearing woman wasn't trying to pull this in FL.

Old enough to know better: Seemed like a pretty piss-poor stun gun. Didn't do a damn thing.

Many stun guns don't work unless they make contact with the skin.  Clothing does provide enough resistance to prevent someone from being zapped.

I thought it was police officers in one of the New England cities.

Either way, can't be arsed to look it up.

I don't go anywhere near these stores on black Friday so I'm not familiar with the rules and such but it does seem unusual to be casually carrying a stun gun to go shopping.
Eh, maybe it's just me.

Eh, that's an urban legend.

There is documented evidence of the term arising in Philadelphia in the 1960s, and referring to the heavy vehicular and foot traffic on that day.

And most retailers operate in the black from day 1 of each year.  If you had a really weird accounting system that recognized all costs (rent, labor, cost of goods sold) on January 1, but recognized revenue in real time, then an 8-10% profit margin would mean you went into the black around Thanksgiving.  But nobody would do any such stupid thing.

I went out to the local mall later in the day yesterday, and it was no big thang. I think all the shiatastic beat downs happen earlier in the day/overnight when the flat screen teevees and one-size-fits-all pants are door buster specials and guaranteed to be gone by noon.

I sailed through the sporting goods store and got a great deal on new skates and a pair of gloves.

/shrugs.

I found a few deals, but honestly I don't see any deals I would drive to go wait in line to get.. Like on Amazon, I found a Gerber hunting knife for 50% off, which is unusual but Its a great deal - other then that I found a Western Digital black harddrive that was 50% off.
Most of the real deals you know each store is only going to have a very limited number of them, they want you there so you buy something else.. Frankly I don't see anything worth wild to even buy....

/Other then the knife and hard drive, I went through a few ads only to find pure crap I won't need or want.

Philadelphia - city of brotherly love.  Yeah, right.

When did buying presents become so damned important?  There is no way my parents or I would go to a store and fight over merchandise.  Nothing is that important.  I never will understand this, ever.

The woman with the stun gun, she went out that evening looking to knock someone unconscious.  She found some person laying on the floor and went in for the kill.     We should execute her.

I went to my local Wal-Mart initially just helping my neighbors until I saw how fast the DVD line was moving and decided to load up on movies.  Just to get to my one neighbor I was ready to start running people over.  It was a madhouse!  But everybody was civilized.

Also, score one for me:  my wife and I picked up Brave on DVD for $9.96.  Then I discovered that Amazon and Wal-Mart both had the 3-disc combo pack for $9.96. I swapped it, and initially they wanted to charge me the difference since it scanned full price.  But... and I used to hate this when I worked in retail but I enjoyed it last night... they still had it tagged for $9.96.  So yeah, FREE UPGRADE!

I'm betting most of the people fighting over TVs and stuff are it them for themselves. They just don't seem like the giving types.

Allow me to ask, when was the last time you got in a fist fight over a product on a store shelf?  If the answer is "ever", you are hereby ordered to kill yourself.

If you can't act in a civilized manner, get the fark out of my civilization.

I don't agree that it's acceptable "diversity" to act like these beasts do.  If you actually do think that, you aren't helping.

I'm not saying it's acceptable as much as it's understandable, given the numbers.
