While the actual menorah was not as impressive as the one in my brain camera, I know what I'm having for dinner. Damn you, subby.

I am surprised this isn't a Chabad idea to try to lure congregants and/or add more Jewish men to their "Mitzvah" list. (Chabad is doing a giant rainbow loom menorah at Freehold Mall tomorrow) First time I have seen a husband/wife Rabbi couple before too (looking at their website).

If you're trying to fit in with the Farkers who exist in your fevered imagination, you're doing just fine.

I'm not sayin it is a Jewish person that is greening or submitting, but why submit or green such stories on days when theoretically Jewish persons can't participate?

Typing (as an extension of writing) is always considered work. Even if it's for leisure purposes or Torah study.
Also, you're not allowed to light fires, and turning on an electric light is generally considered to be the same thing. Your computer does a lot of lights on and off. So I'm sure at least some authorities are Not Ok With Any Computer Thing.

Yes, I realize those rules, especially the lights thing, make not-much sense. But neither does treating poultry as "meat" (but not fish!) when the entire meat/milk thing comes from "thou shalt not cook a calf in its mother's milk". The intent is very clearly "respect your food animals, do not add insult to injury." But the accumulated interpretation has become "you shouldn't even eat poultry off the same plates you use for cheese, or any milk within two hours of any meat".. though a cheeseburger is pretty legitimately not Kosher even under the original interpretation, unless you know the cows involved weren't related. That's just how Judaism has gotten to be after a bunch of rabbis rules-lawyering for millenia.

/not an observant Jew
//stuff like that is a big reason why

The Torah says you can't start a fire today.

It says nothing about starting a flame war.
