Nice try, trollmitter. Canadians don't count as people and you know it.

Fark you Bergman

I had no idea that a) he was still alive, b) that he lives about 5 minutes from my sister, c) that he's still performing, d) that he's working with Lorrie Matheson, a friend of mine, and e) that he's playing the Palomino, 10 minutes from my house, tonight.  My plans are set.

If it weren't for his personal predilections, it's highly likely that Bergmann would be in your pantheon of regarded punk pioneers too.  As the article mentions, he's like Canada's Paul Westerberg.

beginning with Vancouver punk act the K-Tels, which later changed its name to the Young Canadians,

Yeah, they called themselves the K-Tels until they got sued by K-Tel so then they called themselves the X-Tels briefly until K-Tel made further legal noises at them so then they changed their name to Young Canadians which ended up being rather funny as they would get bookings based on the wholesomeness factor of the name and the audience would have a collective WTF moment when they broke into Hawaii or Police Truck. Hullaballoo Girls is still my favorite YC tune.

Poisoned was Bergman's best incarnation by far, his solo work was rather underwhelming in comparison.

Not sure how I feel about a 60 year old Bergman performing again after such a long hiatus.

Thought he'd called it a day. A comeback tour? The final cliche.

Ha ha, Subby thinks people who listened to this guy 30 years ago are all dead now. What are you, 14?

My brush with greatness - was on a bus in Vancouver, the 14 Hastings, sitting right in front of the rear exit, middle of the day, couple of loud drunks at the back. Eventually they get off. Holy shiat! Art Bergman.

It's somehow fitting that Art Bergman would be riding the 14 Hastings. And I'm pretty sure they'd cancel service if there wasn't at least one drunk on that bus at all times.

I liked this song a lot when it came out. If you haven't heard Art Bergman check it out. Before he went solo he used to be in the semi punk band The Young Canadians.

Art Bergmann: "Faithlessly Yours"

And here's what the Young Canadians sounded like.

I only just realized that the verse of this is essentially XTC's Mayor of Simpleton. Only steal from the best, Art.
