They actually did this with the first one too. They released  Wake Up Ron Burgundy, an entire film made up of footage and scenes that never made it into the first film.

So they did a version without Farrell and Steve Whatshisface?

Might be worth watching then.

It was a novel idea but good lord it wasn't very funny.

The only funny thing associated with that series is the IQ of the people that enjoy it.

I usually like Farrell movies for the "stupid" humor, but Anchorman is just not one I liked at all.

Will Farrell <- [line of distance = 4.6 parsecs] -> Funny

Actually, I don't think there's a point on the graph for him.

It's "Ferrell," not "Farrell."

Filthy casuals.

Will Farrell does not create the type of movies that I enjoy watching.

I felt it was important to tell you this.

Seconded. I think Will Ferrell's funny is more due to the people around him. Take a number of his skits from SNL. He himself wasn't very funny, more it was the skit itself or those others in the skit.

/case in point= more cowbell.

Ferrel us funny to me in the same Sacha Cohen is funny to me.

Neither are afraid to do something for a laugh. They can both be pretty fearless for a joke.

I usually can't stand Farrell so I avoided Anchorman for a long time, but when I was finally bored enough to watch it on TV I liked it.

So, Anchorman 3, then.

If you didn't like Anchorman, it's probably because you are a pedophile or a member of Al Queda. Either way, your mom didn't love you enough and that's why you turned out this way.
Hope the helps.

True, but it did have 2 of my favorite scenes in either movie.

Not subby. The only thing I have found Will Ferrell even remotely acceptable in was 'Elf '.  He's one of the few 'comedians' where I just don't click with his type of humor or his delivery.

/ Don't even get me started on those abhorrent Dodge ads.

I liked him in Stranger Than Fiction. And his character in Winter Passing was oddly fitting, because it was such a bizarre movie overall. That movie started out with Zooey Deschanel's character having a grudgefark and doing heroin.

LOL

Step Brothers is his best movie... Need a sequel to that one...

He was funny as an overly upbeat funeral director in Drowning Mona and as the Woodward to Bruce McCollough's Bernstein in Dick.

I have no idea how anyone can hate Anchorman. Will has done some horrible movies, but Anchorman wasn't one of them. He didn't even want to do a sequel. I think he was afraid of turning out like Mike Myers and being known as 'Ron Burgundy' in the same was Mike was known as 'Austin Powers' and unable to do any future films other than sequels to his most popular movie.

Then again Mike Myers is learning that lesson. After "The Love Guru" bombed, he's going back to doing another Austin Powers movie even though it isn't 1996. And Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are doing the sequel to Dumb and Dumber.

I think these people are trying to relive the popularity and affect on culture they had when they were younger.

Now we just need an Austin Powers/Ron Burgundy team up movie like the Expendables where all the comedy movie characters from the '90's get together to reminice on nostalgia.

I like the first half of Anchorman.. It fell apart when they started battling each other with tridents and shiat. That was dumb. What is it with comedies going off the rails midway through the second act? Wedding Crashers turned to shiat about midway through as well.   I really liked the Other Guys though, that was solid all the way through..

Whacky weed does not automatically create comedy gold.  Hollywood needs to learn this right away.

Jerseysteve22: I really liked the Other Guys though, that was solid all the way through..

I liked that because everyone was retarded.  Will Ferrell fit right in.  Not a fan of other movies where it's just him or a few retards in an actual normal world.  Dodgeball barely worked because Vince and the love interest were near "normal".  What saved it was the rest of the cast.  one of Stillers few good movies, because in most others, he's the Mr. Bean.

Elf worked because it was a theme, there was a reason for Will to be farked in the head.

Stranger than fiction was OK, because he wasn't totally whacko.  Kind of how I liked Punch Drunk Love but loath most of Sandler's other movies.

Being odd and random is not the same as funny.  Zach galifinakis, Sarah Silverman, and a few others have the same problems.  It's not clever, it's mentally handicapped.

At least Jerry Lewis and Rowan Atkinson made acting retarded an art.  So many other "actors" aren't acting so much, that's just kind of how they are, as if they're broken.

May work for a live skit on short notice(SNL)....kind of.  Even at that it's a classless version of Who's Line? That wouldn't be anywhere near as entertaining were it not for the people like Walken, Alec Baldwin, etc, showing their ability to deadpan or failing and cracking up during a skit.  The SNL regulars are a support troup to showcase the actual celebrities.  Shoehorning every other member into real movies is not doing anyone a service at all.

Imo, you give a 1000 monkeys 1000 typewriters....Will, Sandler, they're bound to have a couple of good movies just by sheer chance.

The rest of the time, they're making silly faces and contrived voices as if they're entertaining babies.  I suppose, in a sense, they are, because most of america really isn't all that intelligent and will laugh at the stupidest shiat.

They're not funny in the same way wrestling isn't real.  Oh, they write and tell jokes, but it's contrived and forced.  Never clever or genuine.  Wrestlers act out contrived scripts, even if the action still takes some physical prowess and injury on occasion.  I certainly couldn't do it, but that doesn't make it quality entertainment.  I also can't shiat in my own mouth.

. Make enough money to continue their lifestyle since they spent like it would always keep coming when they were on top  FTFY

Make it one of those "put on a show to save a comedy club from getting foreclosed on" kinda stories and that could work.
