What I needed to buy:  A dog bed and a DVD player
What I did:  Got up, had a cup of tea, went to 1800PetSupplies.com and Amazon.  Ordered what I needed and went back to bed.

Black Friday done.

Those things look like some kind of fire code/health code violation waiting to be written into law.

We've got laughs from coast to coast
To make you smile
A real life look at each of you
To capture all that style
You're the red, white and blue
The funny things you do
America, America this is you
Stories from your friends next door
They never told
You might be a star tonight
So let that camera roll
You're the Red, White and Blue
Oh the funny things you do
America, America this is you

My thought exactly.

I mean, Walmart wants to make money, I get that, but at what point are they responsible for enabling a very dangerous situation?

Who did you piss off (and how) to be one of the cops assigned to a Walmart on Black Friday?  Your sin must have been truly epic.

Fair enough.

But still, look at something like a nightclub or a restaurant or even some office buildings, they have maximum occupant limitations, because to exceed that many people in that location in the event of a fire or other emergency means that escape will be greatly compromised and some portion of the patrons are likely to die.

I can't imagine that Walmart shoppers packed shoulder-to-shoulder throughout massive sections of the store doesn't brush up against these regulations.

Then again in Texas, I presume those regulations just don't exist.

That's okay, they're keeping themselves entertained by playing dodgerock in the parking lot.

I don't disagree with the capacity issues. I was commenting on the "this proves we are devolving!!!" idiocy.

Maybe Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Toys R Us and all the rest can just build a big Coliseum and put all the hot sale items in the middle of the field, let the crazed shoppers in the gates and then sell tickets so the citizens can sit in the stands to watch the carnage on the field. Thumbs up?

I suppose Walmart is loving this. The stores are packed, and people are buying tons of junk. I see no end to this in the future.

Should I be worried that if the shiat ever hit the fan, that these people have more experience looting and rioting? Or would they be too busy going after 'lectronics and not actual supplies?

They're Wal Mart shoppers.  If the fit hits the shan, one of them will feed a family of four for a week.

Failure to murder enough dogs for being inside their own yard, behind a fence?
Failure to plant enough drugs on innocent people?

retail still has occupancy limits, its just that you'd almost never hit it. If the fire marshall really felt it was unsafe he could shut them down and fine them.

Totally went.

Totally went to Walmart out in Woodbury.

Yes, the video section was a clusterfark to start. That being said, no one running each other over or anything. Also, being polite and letting people through to where they were trying to go works wonders.

At the end of the day, for every big item, you need a companion. The challenge that most of these people have is that they try to get 2 or 3 big ticket times by themselves. If you have 1 person for every big ticket Item, there is little to no stress. They grab the thing and clear out. Period.

I walked in 2 and a half hours early. Waited. Got my Call of Duty Ghosts and NBA 2k14 (the items I cared about), went and took the time to find a bunch of pajams for the kids cheap ($4 for a nice set of pajams for a 9 year old is a steal). I did all this knowing I would go to the "videos" area and wouldn;t have the pick of the place since I prioritized something else.

The only thing that sucked was being 150 people back in line to check out. Ok, that sucked ALOT.

/and 3 videos? OH NOES, I am sure that 3 people aren't arrested at a walmart EVERY DAY in this country

Oh and rewatching the first one, he already HAD a TV. Seems like he MAY have gone in to help someone. Now helpseomeone get another TV or help geth them out of the pile is the question. The blond lady he is talking to afterwards doesn;t seem to be in the same place he originally goes into. That one is at least SOME gray area as he isn;t trying to get ANOTHER TV.

The reason they call it Black Friday is because, if you do venture out to the malls, at least once during the course of your shopping you can be sure that you are fully capable of taking a human life.

That's my thought too. I watched it a bunch of times earlier, and while I can't realllly see anyone he pulled up, his body language suggests what you said above. The look on the people watching says otherwise, but of course just because they're there doesn't mean that they knew what he was doing.

What I know is, he had one. Dove back in deep enough to possibly get a second, shoving people out of his way.... and came back up with his original.

I honestly see a bad situation for the next wanna-be James Holmes.

It's a terribly unsafe situation and retailers should be ashamed for continuing to put their customers and employees at great risk like this.
