And there are reports the reason Sun Media's "Ford Nation" show was cancelled was because of the insane cost of producing it. How is that possible for just a couple dudes yammering on about how awesome they are? Well they recorded 18 hours which had to be edited down to an hour which I'm assuming was to cut out all the ultra cray which would look bad for their conservative masters.

Doug McKenzie Rob Ford: Yeah. OK, well, uh, we found, uh, this mouse in a bottle of YOUR BEER, eh. Like, we was at a party and, uh, a friend of ours - a COP - had some, and HE PUKED. And he said, uh, come here and get free beer or, uh, he'll press charges.

Virtually unlimited numbers of fat, drunk, loudmouthed, over-the-hill football players are never farther than your nearest sports bar.  Why bother flicking on the TV to watch these Ford douches?  And at least at the sports bar, you can break up monotony of vast stupidity in your personal space with epic sports stupidity on 20+ hi-def screens.

Ahhh, it's an online reality show.  That's even dumber.

Hmm... and I wonder if they are doing this to skirt the CRTC rules on politicians being on air personalities during an election campaign. I always thought them having a radio show to spew their propaganda was sleazy as it is.

Any Canadians here with GEDs in political lawerin' around? Does the youtube show violate election laws?

The CRTC has been lined with Conservative friendly clowns anyway though so they might allow it. It's the reason Sun Media can even exist as it does. Harper made it so the laws preventing outright lies being broadcast as "news" were abolished allowing Fox North to crank up the derp.

Take Off To The Great White North seems appropriate for this thread.

This aboot what is it that makes Canada so important?

Bryan Adams, drinking beer and smoking crack. In that order.

Just imagine the derpfest it's going to be when it's not edited.

I doubt Doug would allow Robby to go full stream of consciousness at this point. When they had the radio show it was before all the "librulz" were "attacking" him so they could generally stick to saner stuff. There was still some craziness like with the gay guy with AIDS he was getting illegal pills for and the "Toronto Star" conspiracy theories but now that he's a truly cornered animal Doug likely knows to not let him off his leash in public.

I'm just glad Doug wasn't the one who got elected mayor because he is much more devious and believable. He's like what Cheney was to Bush.

From the article's sidebar: Norm Kelly on Rob Ford: 'Hopefully he'll become more reasonable'

Hell no!  I love this guy.  I hope he gets even loonier.  Bestiality with squirrels, counterfeiting Nigerian money, smoking Drano, bootleg bathtub Viagra.  Any batshiat crazy thing that's not quite bad enough to kill him.

That was the BS excuse.  It was their highest rated show ever.  Not saying much for Sun, but it made them money.  No, the real reason is the PM who supports Sun didn't want the show to go on. To much embarrassment.  His people made sure the show was canceled.

That would make sense too. Harpo must really be regretting all those buddy buddy appearances with El Cracko now. His party is sinking hard. The mental dissonance amongst his hardcore supporters is painful to watch.

"B-B-B-BUT TRUDEAU WANTS TO INJECT THE MARIHUANAS INTO YOUR BABBYS AND HE WILL MAKE US ALL SLAVES TO THE CHINAMEN!!! I SEEN IT ON TEH NEWZES!!!"

Yeah... um... no.

For which part? It was indeed the most viewed show Sun Media has ever aired (google it... it's all over the place). It really would have made them a fortune if they could keep production costs down.

If you want a cite for Harpo's backdoor shenanigans however well there aren't many because he controls the flow of info more than anyone Canuckerland has ever seen... and how exactly would they get access to that info anyway? Our friend there was speculating which is all that can be done because of the Cons wall of secrecy... at least until the details come out in the police investigations and court proceedings. It is very easy to read between the lines and observe past behavior to figure out what the guy is up to though. Only the dumbest of the dumb don't see through his lies and misdirection.

It WILL all come out eventually. Don't you worry.

There's piles of reasons why Harper, (as well as many others), might want Ford muzzled.  Lord knows, as a Canadian, I would be happier if he would hush up just because of the rep he's giving to the whole country.  However, what I would like is *any* evidence to suggest that Harper, or someone else (the PMO would be a likely culprit) was actually involved... otherwise it remains baseless speculation, which no intelligent person would accept as actual fact, but might land you a show where you can offer opinions and try to get people to buy gold.

You seem to be confused. That's a right wing thing.

But tell us... do you like Harper? Would you vote for him? Have you voted for him? Just curious.

The citation needed I imagine is for the claim that Sun made money. They got a bunch of viewers, but to turn the viewers into money, you need sponsors.

They never said so, but my guess is that when Sun went around they found virtually zero corporations wanting to be associated in any way with these two clowns. Being associated with mav'ricky right-wing types is one thing. Being associated with crack addicts and drug dealers is a whole 'nother thing.

Obviously its all speculation, but it makes more sense than Fox North dumping a successful show because it took their unpaid interns to many hours to edit out Rob Ford's crack breaks.

Do I like Harper?  Overall I disapprove of many of his policies, and I despise what his government has done to federal scientists (muzzling), but you gotta admire his ability to play the dirty game of politics.  What I do like is to see, however, are provocative opinions that are backed up with something resembling facts, and I also like to see the holders of those opinions recognize that, absent support from facts, their theories are not worth much.

So, to summarize, their TV show was cancelled because reasons, which has led to interesting theories that all have the same amount of proof.

Pardon Me Sultan: Being associated with crack addicts and drug dealers is a whole 'nother thing.

...and of course to be clear, by this I mean "Being associated with something they might consider to be or who might be viewed by some to be..."

Wouldn't want to presume anything about anyone.

No... I really don't.

docmattic: What I do like is to see, however, are provocative opinions that are backed up with something resembling facts, and I also like to see the holders of those opinions recognize that, absent support from facts, their theories are not worth much.

Well... see now... here's the thing. There were a lot of "provocative" "opinions" and "theories" about how there was a video showing Mr. Ford smoking crack cocaine. Of course this was debunked thoroughly and repeatedly by folks who were TOTALLY being truthful and EVERYONE else was lying... right up until the point that hard evidence was about to come out proving said "provocative" "opinions" and "theories" to indeed be true. And even AFTER said hard evidence came to light AND admissions were made even more half truths and outright falsehoods were presented as "fact".

When a certain group of people have been proven time and time again to conceal the truth no matter what the cost, no matter what the scenario simply to serve their own selfish purposes... well, sometimes all other people have to go on are theories and opinions. They tend to be far closer to reality than what has been served up to the public time and time again.

You say that like it's a BAD thing! Didn't the snookie get something like $20,000 to speak at the Rutgers commencement ceremony a few years ago? Do you know how much shiatty coke you can buy for $20,000? Do you know how many $20 hookers that is? Because, I sure don't; math is hard.

lol

However monetary incentive doesn't really make a whole lot of sense in this case because they are already ridiculously wealthy ("but trust us, we're totally stickin' up for the "little guy"!! Nyuck nyuck").

No... the only reason these guys could possibly be doing what they are doing is megalomania and outright conceit. The sad part is the REAL big players of the world whom they wish to impress would have nothing to do with these low brow thuggo clowns.

Sad, really.
