Kano wins?

2013-11-28 09:26:49 PM
Kano's Hisbah chief Aminu Daurawa said at the bottle-breaking ceremony he had "the ardent hope this will bring an end to the consumption of such prohibited substances".

A large bulldozer smashed the bottles to shouts of "Allahu Ahkbar" (God is Great) from supporters outside the Hisbah headquarters in Kano, the largest city in Nigeria's mainly Muslim north.

Kegs containing more than 8,000 litres of a local alcoholic brew called "burukutu" and 320,000 cigarettes were also destroyed.
"We hope this measure will help restore the tarnished image of Kano," said Daurawa.

Hey Daurawa. Guess what. Kano didn't have an image. Now it does. I don't think you thought your cunning plan all the way through.

And Muslims in western countries crying for "Sharia courts" to be set up in your own enclaves, this is why you're getting such a seemingly racist backlash. It's nothing personal. Just don't fark with our alcohol and cigarettes.

North America-- clean, civilized
South America-- moderately clean, moderately civilized
Europe-- clean, civilized
Asia-- somewhat clean, somewhat civilized
Australia-- clean, civilized
Antarctica-- extraordinarily clean, not yet civilized
Africa-- filthy, not civilized

Who's with me?

This is all part of that stupid christian coalition BS that is sweeping across parts of Africa, it's based in DC, is part of the Heritage foundation and is calling for gays to be exterminated as well as other really really bad things like killing beers.  There are a few elected officials that belong to it almost all repugnoncon and religion in this country is funding it.

And it's sad.  But I have some 12 year old Jameson at home that when I get off shift is going to be very happy it is not being killed, it will be killing me.

I think it's more likely to be that militant Islam thing that's sweeping sub-Saharan Africa

Alcohol consumption isn't prohibited in the Q'uran.  It's not Islam.  It isn't prohibited in the Bible, either.

A quick Google finds this at Wikipedia:

O you who believe! Intoxicants (all kinds of alcoholic drinks), gambling, al-ansāb , and al-azlām (arrows for seeking luck or decision) are an abomination of Shayṭān's (Satan's) handiwork. So avoid (strictly all) that (abomination) in order that you may be successful.

What if you don't WANT to be successful? Can you still obey the Prophet and yet drink yourself into oblivion, and say you just didn't feel like making anything of yourself?

This isn't any different than the authorities in the US cutting down a marijuana grow and burning it all. Obviously people want the weed but the government says it's illegal so they confiscate it and destroy it.
Why is it news when some other country does something like this? Just because they are Muslim and call it immoral under Sharia law?It boils down to individual rights. We highlight all these things that Muslim countries do to treat their citizens like shiat. All the while ignoring the way our own government treats us like shiat and limits or takes away our rights. We need to fix our own country before we worry about the legality of drinking in West BumFark Africa.I think religion needs to be the farthest thing away from the government. That includes here in the US. Where our elected representatives are arguing about healthcare and birth control because of religion. It shouldn't be an issue at all. A for profit company doesn't get to deny their employees medical coverage just because the CEO or founder is a member of religion X. It's not a church, it's a business.

Now that they've taken care of those pesky problems of terrorism and staggering, soul-crushing poverty, they get to tackle the real issues. Like a guy coming home from work (if he has any work) and sitting Al Bundy style with a beer.

Luckily they were probably too wasted to make a grab for any kiddies junk. Well, at least not mine. Should I feel excluded? farking Catholic guilt.

sacrificing on stone altars (other than to Allah)
(arrows for seeking luck or decision) are  but defilements

Hmm maybe your Q'uran is broken.  Yours has an exclamation point where mine has a comma, which entirely changes the meaning of the phrase.  In your version it's directed to those who "believe" (unspecified), where in my version it's only directed to those who believe that intoxicants, stone altar sacrifice, and arrows for divination are the handiwork of Shaitan.  I pointed out the phrases in your quote that were added (italics) or missing (bold) from the Q'uran I'm holding.
