Why the hell not? It's just another day and if the conditions are right then you go. The world doesn't sit around waiting for.you to wake up from your post-turkey nap.

I don't care what they do but If they are launching on Thanksgiving or Christmas they have a reason. I find this rather entertaining especially as it didn't actually go anywhere.

2013-11-28 05:42:50 PM
well that was the exact opposite of exciting

2013-11-28 05:43:17 PM
As far as mission failures go, that's pretty much the worst you want to experience.

Yeah the conditions sucked when they tried to launch earlier in the week.

Not really, the payload is still intact and can be launched on another day. The launch vehicle is still capable of being used again too after some tinkering. Its frustrating, but not nearly as frustrating as seeing it all going up in flames, or falling back to earth, etc.

Mazzic518: spin359: Why today?

Launch window.

Not for a geosynchronous orbit. It just sits there, so any day is as good as the next. The FAA delayed the launch because of heavy air travel on the previous days.

Actually they tried Monday night; weather here was trash, a cool front was moving in and it was gusty as hell.

Lets see what happens today.

Correct. I said the worst you "want" to experience, not the worst you "can" experience.

Way to get it to the end of the launch window guys, let's light this candle!

If anyone knows.

Scrubbed for the day, ran out of time to complete data review from first engine start, taking safe path out, call it a day.

That second countdown to the abort at 45 seconds should never have happened.

Whatever the flight computer saw in the power ramp to the T + 0:02 hold wasn't just a glitch and they knew it.

Yeesh.

Oh, add in the six previous attempts, including one with a broken handle, widespread media ridicule on the delays, and a Presidential State of the Union address that will refer to the launch.

/yeah, there's a couple protocols you can break

The FAA making SpaceX wait until Thanksgiving was a cheap shot.
