McCarthy is one of the world's leading geneticists...

Somehow I doubt that, but if it's true, it won't be for long.

Sounds like leading geneticist Eugene McCarthy has suffered a psychotic break.

Also, I thought Pig and chimpanzee DNA just won't splice. Haven't you heard that song by Loverboy?

Genetically, he's right.  Or rather, genetically, pigs, monkeys, & humans have a lot of common heritage.

"numerous inexplicable similarities in the anatomy of pigs and humans, and again inexplicable differences between humans and other primates. "

Yes, they both need oxygen, a narrow temperature range, gravity, air pressure and they use hemoglobin and an internal skeleton. Inexplicable mysteries.

Uh, the monkey human relation is pretty obvious, but have you forgotten that pig skin was used to graft burned humans because it was pretty much the same? Also, why did we became hairless monkeys? (Not really hairless, since we are in fact hairier than monkeys, but our body hair pretty much became vestigial save for head, genitals and armpits.)

FTFA:  Humans are probably descendants of a specie created through multi-generational breeding between pigs and chimpanzees, and the reason why this hasn't been discovered yet is excessive reliance on the genetic evidence. Comparison of genes so far only hid what is obvious," said McCarthy.

A recent common ancestor between pigs and chimps is much more likely than interordinal crossbreeding.

We were created by the Annunaki 250,000 years ago in Africa because they needed a cheap source of slave labor to mine gold.  Hence the Biblical references to the Nephilim in the Bible.  It's the old ancient astronaut theory proposed by Von Daniken and expanded by Stetchin.

fark, not someone just seeing McCarthy's bullshiat for the first time. First, McCarthy is a legit geneticist, but I would hardly describe him as "one of the world's leading geneticists." I had never heard of him until this sort of thing started going around and I did my PhD in molecular evolution and now work in human genetics. So he isn't that famous or world renowned.

Second, from what I understand he makes his argument purely on anatomical features (which are much more likely to be the result of convergent evolution than actual genetic sequence data is) and not genetics. He claims it is because modern geneticists rely "too much" on sequence data, which is bullshiat. Of course geneticists rely on gene sequence data... and when you do it rigorously it is a hell of a lot better and more informative than anatomical features.

For someone who has worked and published in the fields he has published in, the ONLY reason to not make an argument using those resources is because you can't and are a whackjob spewing total BS.

If it were possible for primates to crossbreed with non-primates we would already be lousy with hybrids. Beastiality is not a new concept.

Because you can't sweat if you're covered with fur and you can't speak if you have to pant to regulate your body temperature. Ever read a book on human evolution that was written in the last fifty years?

Came to link this, was beaten! Well done!

Seriously read this article if any of you think 'gee, there's something to this'. The most important point (and there's plenty of them) is that there is ZERO crossbreeding between orders of species. Does not happen. Anywhere. Ever.

And what's not mentioned is, there's been attempts at ape/human crossbreeds, the best known one is IIRC out of Russia. Programs tried chimps and gorillas, didn't work. And any 'humanzees' claimed today are easily debunked through DNA testing. I don't know if it's impossible to crossbreed, but if it is possible it sure as shiat isn't easy. And that's with two very very closely related species of the same order.

What he's claiming would be like if your dog and your horse were able to crossbreed. Based on everything we know, it's just not possible. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence and he's unable to credibly back his claims. There's better evidence for the aquatic phase, and that's not even popular anymore.

What if they ended up with the brains of the girls yet the looks of the nerds and not the other way around?
George Bernard Shaw once asked that question to an ardent admirer of the hot female kind who was known for not being so bright.
