Even worse, out of work actor whose character was already killed by Tony Soprano.

Who are they going to hire to properly say, "Cristafah", now that their characters are dead?

Is that right? I sort of stopped watch towards the end there, got too soap opera-y. Ok so it would have to be a prequel, which wouldn't work either because Gandalfini's dead. So I dunno WTF he's thinking. Long lost twin? Talk about soap opera-y

I always thought and excellent extension or new story line would be having Tony's daughter take over the family.  I always got the vibe she hated her dad for what he did and who he was, but, in the end had a very deep devotion to him and loved him to the core.  I also always thought that she was extremely smart, cunning, and truth be told, she had ice in her veins.

Think of it....Her father is murdered in front of her.  She takes over the family and wages war and builds an empire that would make her dad envious.  I think the character development and story lines would be incredible.

The actor, who played Christopher Moltisanti for eight years on the show, accepts a get together will never be the same, following the death of James Gandolfini earlier this year (13) - but he'd still love to be part of any new series ...

kind of difficult with his character being dead and all

I dunno, I never heard of a girl being in the italian mob, much less running it. But it's not a documentary I suppose.

When Tony went to Italy, the family there was (for all intents and purposes) run by a woman.

Exactly.  I just thought she was the only one that had the ability to carry on the family name.  She tried so hard to distance her self from it, but, in the end its her destiny.  She has no choice.  The Soprano mob family has experienced a power vacuum.  She steps in and seeks revenge.

And no, its not a documentary.  I had never heard of a criminal alpha male seeking mental therapy either.  But, the story worked quite well.

They kept that plotline going well after it had run its course.  They seemed to just be putting Meffi in because of a contractual obligation to Lorraine Bracco.

I mean, it was a great show, but it could occasionally throw in some clunkers and bad characters/plotlines, or do something dumb like

I'd vote for the storyline if I were sitting at the table.  But there'd be that inevitable grey area that happens with a female protagonist.  She'd have to be an actor turned up to calibre 11, or at least surrounded by a core that could fill in any shortcomings.

Dunno if it was intentional or not (pretty sure there are probably a few college circle-jerk courses on the subject) but the character parallels Meadow had with Michael Corleone were pretty strong from the beginning.  Independent, smart, initially-repulsed by her roots and taking pains to travel and define herself outside the family's bailiwick, but eventually coming around to the realization that she needs to take up the reins, for lack of anyone else capable.

I thought it was funny to see that after Christopher's death, Tony goes to meet and fark Christopher's goombah, take drugs, and have an epiphany that he "got it". Then proceeds to come back home no better a person despite his revelations.

I still believe that Tony was killed by Members Only man with his brains splattered all over his "Best Onion Rings in New Jersey!".

I thought the spin-off was the one where Silvio Dante went to Sweden or Norway for witness protection? Excellent show from Netflix, by the way.
