I'm looking forward to this one. After all when has Hollywood ever made a bad movie based on a video game?

Actually the first Mortal Kombat was really fun. I mean Christopher Lambert as a Japanese thunder god...how can you go wrong?

I haven't heard any details about the proposed Warcraft movie, but am I going to log out of WoW to drive to watch a movie about Warcraft?  Perhaps if I need to stretch my legs..

I had the same experience. Well, tomorrow's Thanksgiving and by Friday everybody will have forgotten all about this.

I'm not even sure what they'd talk about.  A movie about events in Warcraft III is very old news to Blizzard fans, that's about 10 years old at least.  Events from WoW itself?  Most wouldn't be much fresher, and current events will be old news by the time the movie comes out.  Time the movie to match the expansion after the next one?  Could be a final confrontation with the Burning Legion, or the return of the Titans, but neither would make sense without tons of backstory.

I have no clue what they're up to.

I'd watch a Starcraft film. Warcraft is too generic a fantasy world for me.

All they need to do is have a code for a mount or pet given out with each ticket bought and they'll do pretty well for the first week atleast. They can keep up numbers with a different pet the second week, and do a another new pet the third week. Three weeks with solid numbers would make it worthwhile.

Ugh.. but yeah, that would probably work.

Some parts of it are rather high tech.

Cut scene of the Alliance fleet arriving in Pandaria, in force.  Complete with a flying fortress as a helicopter carrier.

Duncan Jones (writer/director of  Moon) is directing this one. It might not suck. And they're going to try to make the Horde as sympathetic as the Alliance, which is nice; an "Orcs are bad guys" story would dumb down the concept a lot.

WarCraft's fantasy world isn't original, but it's detailed and has lots of lore. Personally, I think WarCraft III would make the most sense as a basis for a film series (the story is great, Arthas is a great tragic figure and the cast of characters would encourage some great actors to take on smaller roles), but the intention of this film seems to be to go back earlier in the lore and establish things.

I rarely see films in the theater, and I doubt this one will be an exception for me. But they do seem to have the right ideas in place.

Back to King Llane, Blackhand, Mediev, Garona?  There's some back story there that I'm not fully familiar with, so that might work.  Course, the Horde of that time was almost entirely under demonic influence, so that wouldn't make them very sympathetic.

Because we aren't morons. SW IIV may end up being a steaming turd but so were I-III and in some ways IV but they made a ton of money at the box office alone, much less from merchandising. it's one thing to be a Fark hipster, it's another to be ignorant.

Despite being directed by a director whose films I've enjoyed, I'll probably pass on Warcraft, because video game movie. And I'll also pass on Star Wars 7, because I don't care for Abrams' lensflare, I mean style.

This will be based around the First War, which- as plot lines go- is on par with any other action movie you'd see.  I hope it's successful enough to warrant a sequel based on the Second War, which has always been my favorite part of Warcraft lore.

At least the movie won't be based on Green Jesus.

If they did have Goel, wouldn't they need to get the same voice actor to do it, to be convincing?

You understand that Starcraft is a ripoff of the 40k universe, right? Read some of the 40k lore (especially anything by Abnett), shiat gets deep and incredibly depressing.

/or go 30k and read Horus Heresy series
//but seriously, the shiat the Zerg are based on are far more terrifying

Ahhh yes.  Warhammer 40k.  Now a decent MMO with that license would be something to cheer.  Probably have to rate it M at the very least.

They had one in the works that I was really looking forward to, then they scrapped the multiplayer aspect of it (so it was basically a 40k RPG) and I think it's still in development or stalled.

Supposedly, it's about Lothar and Durotan. See, that's okay w/ me. Making a goddamn time-traveling expansion b/c your newer characters seemed to have fizzled out is much worse.

The most important question, what new minipet will we receive from buying our movie ticket?

And will our Battle.Net balance be usable for purchase?!

The whole movie will be Chinese people repeatedly mining gold, and lots of D&D ripoffs dancing and jumping around like morons.

Honestly, though, this sounds like a truly awful idea.

Love me some Abnet - eisenhorn - ravenor - ghosts - shiat the guy will be a sci-fi legend.

I'd love to see eisenhorn omnibus turned into a trilogy followed by a ravenor trilogy and then followed up with a tie in movie emperors gift (read it if you haven't yet) that introduces the space wolves - from there you could go into the backstory of Armageddon and the wars fought there.....

But I'm not a big time movie exec so don't listen to me.

One more thing. Blizzard waited way too long to make this movie.
Too many of us have left Azeroth and will not return even in a movie.

Its like a drug for me and I can't be around it or I'll relapse.

I'll rent that movie from redbox.
