According to the Yahoo Playoff Calculator, there ARE scenarios that have both the Jets and Giants making the playoffs.  They both require them to win out the season (not bloody likely) and even if the Jets win out, they need some help.

The New York Teams aren't out of it totally, but I wouldn't start ordering champagne, either.

It has been referred to as that at least as far back as the 19th century.

Amazingly, whether or not you include the Blackhawks (and you have to), Chicago's easily ahead in recent success.  Easily.  You can't just ignore six Bulls championships.

Then the Sox, Blackhawks, and Bears have won since the 80s.  Two of them very recently.

So the Cubs have sucked forever.  Whatever.  That's one team.

If Brooklyn can keep tanking over the next few seasons, that would be great.

2014 first round draft pick from Brooklyn
Brooklyn will convey the less favorable of its 2014 1st round pick and Atlanta's 2014 1st round pick to Boston (via Atlanta's right to swap for Brooklyn) [Atlanta-Brooklyn, 7/11/2012 and then Boston-Brooklyn, 7/12/2013]

2016 first round draft pick from Brooklyn
Brooklyn's 2016 1st round pick to Boston [Boston-Brooklyn, 7/12/2013]

2017 first round draft pick from Brooklyn
Boston has the right to swap its 2017 1st round pick for Brooklyn's 2017 1st round pick; if Boston exercises this swap right, then Boston will convey its 2017 2nd round pick to Brooklyn protected for selections 31-45 (if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Boston's obligation to Brooklyn will be extinguished) [Boston-Brooklyn, 7/12/2013]

/Hawks, please feel free to tank in 2013 too.

Fark. I actually kind of envy New York fans.  I still might be traumatized by Sunday's game but I feel like I just realized I was watching a horror movie and that all of the joy experienced by the Broncos so far is just about to be evilly flipped and revisited twofold as suffering.  Or that I just discovered the football season was the game of thrones and I'm rooting for the Starks.

The fact is our Quarterback sucks in the cold and with homefield advantage in the playoffs we will be playing a good team in freezing weather.  Or worse we will get by that and play in the coldest superbowl ever.

Reality sucks can I go back and take the blue pill?

Certainly over history, NY has nothing to complain about.

But, the point of this article... we all outside of NY can certainly be happy over their current state of affairs:
Giants: 4-7
Jets: 5-6, and not playing even as good as a 5-6 team right now
Nets: 3-10
Knicks: 3-10
Rangers, Devils, Islanders:  All .500 or below
Yankees and Mets: No Playoffs
Even the Red Bulls... they had the best record this past year, and then got bounced out in their first round match by a "play-in" team.

2013-11-27 04:06:32 PM
Eli Manning should petition the NFL to Play Tom Brady and the Patriots eight games a season, since that seems to be the one team he can constantly make his biatch. Otherwise he's just an overrated, erratic QB. And the Jets should revamp their front office and coaching staff so they at least get some respectability. They aren't a well run organization.

Buffalo, NY

Buffalo Bills (1970-present): 0 NFL championships
Buffalo Sabres (1970-present): 0 NHL championships
Buffalo Braves (current Clippers) (1970-1978): 0 NBA championships

That's 94 years of major pro sports with no championships.

The only way Buffalo can be credited with any championships at all is if you count the Bills' AFL titles pre-merger, or if you include the NLL Bandits.  But those don't really count.

I would consider the AFL an "equivalent" league to the NFL in the 60s.... heck, many thought the CFL was very close in talent (much closer than it is today) to the NFL in the 50s and 60s.   The NFL essentially considers the AFL as part of its "history" since they fully merged, so, I'd consider the Bills AFL championships as "legit" in this discussion.    The Bandits are as legit as Arena Football or WNBA in this discussion (ie, not really).
