Stupid.  It's meant to make your teeth trackable by satellite.

I recently learned (dentist told me) that our water isn't fluoridated.  I thought it pretty much was everywhere, but I guess not.

Old news. Fluoridated water has been a hardcore Commie staple since 1964. I first became aware of it during the physical act of love. That's what happens when you introduce a foreign substance to your precious bodily fluids.

"I am against fluoride in drinking water," wrote Greg Hefner. "I'm no scientist, but just reading the directions on a toothpaste container says it all. Contact your poison control center if ingested. Why would we want a chemical that could make us ill in drinking water?"

It may not be a plot that turns us all into commie-zombies, but it sure as shiat doesn't fight cavities, and I speak from experience.

If it controlled thoughts, nobody would oppose it. Because everyone's body is mostly tap water.

I love it. Cuz you know, fluoride is the only thing in toothpaste.

2013-11-27 10:53:28 AM
No thanks. Please don't fark with my water. If I want to put fluoride in my mouth, I will use the right kind of toothpaste. It's amazing how brushing one's teeth seems to help get rid of that bacteria, too.

Someone should inform this guy about dihydrogen monoxide

My city does not fluoridate its water, and boy let me tell you, my family makes a killing off of the Tooth Fairy business. Also the "Dentures for Kids" business.

I was told it makes you docile and more likely to go shopping on Thanksgiving to buy stuff.

Yes, it has to be a scientific anecdote.

I do have serious doubts about its effectiveness, and I'd wager it's the brushing action that is responsible for removing the glue...errr I mean sugar from one's teeth..which then cause cavities.

I could be wrong, but I am sure the fleeting, trace amounts of fluoride in the drinking water is doing anything but Jack and Shiat.

And Shiat left town. ;)

Consuming a 1 and 1/2 inch ribbon of fluoride toothpaste is grounds for calling poison control.

i remember reading an article a couple years ago that said Des Moines has the best drinking water in the country.  let me take a time out and find it...........http://www.forbes.com/2008/04/14/water-cities-drinking-f orbesli fe-cx_a vd_0414health_slide_11.html

Look up Fluorosis Or just click.

I had a hippie roommate who wouldn't drink filtered water because the filter wouldn't remove fluoride.  Instead he bought these two-and-a-half gallon plastic containers of water, like three a week.  My recycling dropped to practically nothing when he moved out.

Fluoride does not prevent tooth decay. It does render teeth detectable by spy satellites.

/Ask me about aglets.

2013-11-27 11:10:03 AM
There was a study a few years back that found that the majority of tooth decay was the result of a virus. Can't find it now. Anybody got it?

They're in it with the aliens, they're building landing strips for gay martians.

Hmmmm. Sounds like idiots parents over-brushing the teeth of their infants. The link does talk of tooth enamel destruction, so these "babies" do have teeth.

No, I can't see just the fleeting, trace amounts in the water doing that.

Thanks, though for the link, it's making me rethink my position a bit.

Just FYI guys, somebody actually DIED from Fluoride in their water back in the 80s! One guy, due to an equipment malfunction or something, so clearly.. FLUORIDE KILLS.  Also vaccines!  WAKE UP PEOPLE!

The Koch Brothers daddy started the John Birch Society... which is the birthplace of a ton of crazy conspiracy/urban-legend/hoax stuff like Fluoride. It's basically just anti-government malarkey that stupid people eat up like crack, for the sake of removing any and all regulations on business. It makes sense that the Republican's/Tea Party are moving in the conspiracy theory direction with all the Koch Brother funding i guess.

What, exactly, is the draw to living in Iowa?

2013-11-27 11:21:28 AM
When I deployed to Iraq I only drank bottled water for a year. I still brushed and ate the same, but I came back with 6 cavities, one of which need a root canal. I drank city water before that and I would have one cavity or so a year.

I got that. I seriously fail on the sarcasm front. Attempting to doesn't look like it and not trying to looks like it.

George Babbitt:

These days, it's also understood that amoxicillin (common antibiotic) causes the same streaking in teeth. Antibiotics are probably a lot more common than overexposure to fluoride.

2013-11-27 11:25:43 AM
Nazi's used fluoridation to cow the Jews in concentration camps. Think about that for a minute. Why would the government push fluoridation if you weren't already in their camps?

lol it's too early, I had to read your reply twice to understand.

Why did I admit that??

The tinfoil hat crowd should simply be ignored. Let them make their own distilled water at home.

One cavity per year is "normal"? WTF do you eat?

2013-11-27 11:29:49 AM
Geez, it's only one of the most reactive substances in existence, with a tendency to accumulate in soft tissue and the ability to penetrate the blood-brain barrier. Hell, they should use it to sweeten breakfast cereals!

Does anyone else remember taking those little purple fluoride chewables? I can't remember when my parents stopped giving them to my brother and me -- we were still just kids -- but they were definitely fluoride supplements. I grew up on well water which, I guess, doesn't have much in the way of natural fluoride.

I still ended up with cavities, though. But maybe not as bad as they could have been, considering how bad I am about flossing...

/Anecdotal

There is too much derpage on all fronts to have a reasonable discussion about F- anymore. I was going go on an effortpost to enlighten you all about actual science behind biological fluoride...but fark it. I'm too apathetic from a pineal cyst.  Enjoy the hydroxyapatite.

Distilled water is really bad for drinking as it can seriously lower your electrolyte levels due to the lack of minerals.
