I'd have to play it through a couple times to get a fair translation (angry French is confusing French), but it starts by him complaining that he can never reach the landlord - "phone, mail, email".

And the end is "I'm never coming back"

Right, he'll be too busy going to small claims court because he decided to video himself detorying property.

God DAMN people are stupid.

Actually, headline should have been "Renter surrenders... his security deposit"

An example of an a#$hole renter.  The landlord should take this guy's shades, laptop, cellphone, etc. and put a sledge hammer to it --- to give this clown a bit of his own medicine.

"Good evening my dear landlord. I'm making a video because I can't get a hold of you by phone, email, or post, etc. You have insisted on keeping my deposit, so I've decided to get my money's worth. I've already begun with the shower, but it's no big deal since it's pretty crappy, let's admit it. I'm going to put on my shades to protect my eyes, and I'm going to fulfill the dreams of all tenants with viral landlords. OK, here we go... and I'm playing Beethoven, I heard you like Beethoven, so listen to this!"

And so forth. He says the deposit was 2000 euros, which is about $2700, so make what you will of that.

I don't know how rental agreements work in France, but I'm pretty sure the landlord would have at a minimum his driver license number and other identification info on file.

I suspected it was something along these lines. Lol.

Video filtered at work, but if this is the one I think it is : the story was that the landlord refused to give him his 2000 € deposit back, although the place did not have any issue, so he decided that he was going to get his money's worth...

I'm not 100% convinced that this is necessarily a fake.

The landlord/tenant relationship in France is a little different from that in the U.S.  Here (in France), the renter has a bunch of protections (like you can never, ever, EVER be evicted between November 1 to March 15, no matter what), and the main area where landlords get to screw over the renter is with the security deposit.  I have been in a position where not only was the agency saying they wouldn't return our security deposit but that we would owe them more -- never mind the fact that the property was left in excellent condition and over €1000 worth of working appliances were left in the apartment by us (like a washer/dryer, a range hood, and a stove top).  I ended up getting the security deposit back, but it required hundreds of euros of paint, a week and a half of work, and extensive documentation (because after painting, the were still asking for money).

So while it definitely COULD be fake, it comes from the point of view that in France, landlords are notorious for screwing over a tenant who leaves by withholding the security deposit since almost every other aspect of the contract heavily favors the renter, so it at least serves as a nice catharsis for people who have been on the short end of this deal (which is virtually everyone).

I would imagine you could probably go to jail for that.

An excellent translation, with the exception of "viral". In French, "véreux" is used to mean "sleazy" or "dirty/corrupt". Not sure "viral" is used that way in English, as I've never heard it in that context, but I could be wrong.

Also, I liked his harmonic, "Go fark yourself" ("Allez vous faire enculer!") at the very end.

Great pickup... I can't say *why* it's harmonic, but it to me it has a sort of "soccer hooligan" cadence to it.

man the french are annoying.

I am a property manger. Never had anything quite like that. I did have tenants who took a dump in the crisper drawer of the fridge, though. Got a judgment, found their place of employment, been collecting for about a year now. Trashing your place usually will not work out in the long run for you.
