"There is a lot to learn from this mistake for the entire organization." stated CBS.

Despite this only being a leave of absence, expect her to be getting job offers from conservative media sources outrages at the mistreatment of her simply for being the only member of the Lamestream Media willing to speak the truth about what happened that night and not drink the Obama Kool-Aid.

Is this the end of Logan's run?

The media is totally disgusting anymore. I'm glad I get my news from FARK.

2013-11-26 05:09:15 PM
This sounds very much like a script from the last season of HBOs "The Newsroom,"  only there they all decided to fight the charges and the main guy got engaged to the main gal.

2013-11-26 05:09:41 PM
Looks like someone received a call from the WH for deviating from the script. Hurts when the friendly media discovers the truth and is bound by oath to report it, eh Obenghama?

According to a summary of findings, Orly Taitz, CBS News's executive director of standards and practices, found that the "wider reporting resources of CBS News were not unleashed to determine the credibility of a key part of the broadcast - a security contractor in Benghazi named Joe the Plumber, who told Logan that on the night of the attack - Sept. 11, 2012 - he had been on the ground for the clash with terrorists."

Just as an aside, wow. A Birther in charge of something that powerful. Amazing. I thought she was some hack reporter and that's all.

I can't articulate it, but there is a weird irony in making up shiat in order to honor the fallen workers at the Embassy in Benghazi  to push a political agenda.

It's nice to see that there are still some remnants of standards in one major media outlet.

Meh she failed to make sure the story  was indeed fact , either by failing to do the necessary fact checking or by willfully ignoring facts to report a sensation story.

Fox news is gonna love her, and she will fit right in.

mmm Jenny Agutter, aaahhh

/If Laura wants to do a remake of "The Walkabout" or "Outback" or whatever that movie was called, I'd be cool with that too.

This is her Genoa. She should have paid attention to the shot clock.

Talk about life imitating art.

Brick-House: This sounds very much like a script from the last season of HBOs "The Newsroom,"  only there they all decided to fight the charges and the main guy got engaged to the main gal.

To be clear: the charges they are trying to fight isn't that they don't believe they got it wrong, it's that they decide not to fall on their swords and quit. They are going to fight the accusation that they terminated the employee who falsified evidence without cause because he believes he can prove they would have gone to air anyway without his evidence and that he's the fall guy for a systemic failure. In this case Logan is getting a suspension in all but name for not properly vetting the dude and failing to disclose her activities criticizing the administration's terrorism policy while off the clock (which honestly to me is a bit of a BS charge; just because she believes the administration exaggerates their success in eliminating Al-Qaeda doesn't mean she should have recused herself from the report or something, and I say that as someone who thinks the accusations that the administration did anything significantly wrong in their response to the events in Benghazi.)

Also, can we pretend that that last bit you mentioned never happened? What a punch to the balls of anyone hoping for actual development of that relationship instead of "we still hold a grudge over the first time we dated" going straight into ""

Yes. But, I know for a fact they will never ever do that because lies are all they have at this point. Sad, really.

Yeah but they're probably fake, and the last person I want to give me the news should be someone I'd rather fark with extreme prejudice.

Sexually assaulted in Cairo and now this.  I'd either start reconsidering my career at this point or go on some sort of rampage.

I think it was a lesbian waitress in New York f I recall correctly.

The real scandal isn't Benghazi, the real scandal is how so-called synergy has infected the news.  The only reason this story even aired on 60 Minutes was to promote a book being published by Simon & Schuster which is owned by the parent company of CBS.  So they failed to do any journalistic due diligence in order to promote a book.  This is happening more and more and this kind of cross-promotion is what needs to be investigated.

You know that same thought occurred to me regarding the NSA listening programs. It reminded me of the Newsroom and the bugging the telephones.

this was not a "mistake". several sites had reported this guy to be a liar way before this was broadcast. they claimed to have interviewed hundreds and took a year checking out this report and yet no one thought to read his report to the his bosses?  or look at these other websites reporting on him? or mention that CBS was publishing his book? Heads should roll. Not only Logan and her producer but their executive producer also. He had to sign off on this.

Just saw the disclosure of the internal review on the CBS news.  I bet that made for one awkward scene around the entire newsroom.

Agreed. The mistakes involved in getting this story to air were so numerous and big that it borders on total incompetence or outright disregard for journalistic ethics. Nothing minor about it. It's kind of amazingly bad.

2013-11-26 08:31:52 PM
The only surprising thing about this is why 60 Minutes hired a shameless Neo-Con "reporter" like Logan in the first place. She has a long history of activism for her pet causes (wars.)

Oh, and hot.
