If I sell you something valuable for a dollar, I made a bad deal and the legal system may hold me to it. If I sell you something valuable for nothing, there is no legal contract.

Also, somebody messed up the sanity checks in the server code.

And almost certainly their terms of use says the sales are invalidated by "computer glitches". Even if that glitch is a mid-level marketing executive deciding to pull a sale price.

Circa 2005 I found a website selling Toshiba Librettos for $199.99 instead of the two thousand they normally sold for. Sure as shiat I made an ID, went through the checkout and entered my credit card information and printed out the receipt. Come Monday afternoon my CC hadn't been charged, and my ID had been deleted. I bet if I'd been the only one I'd have won, but since I found it through NexTag or something like that I bet they had a thousand such orders.

Has that bullshiat trend of sneakers being 18 different colors at once and coated with shiny plastic ended yet?  Because I went into two stores about six months ago and that described EVERY FRICKIN SHOE.  So I am still walking around with busted out old black Nikes and haven't braved going back.

I would be shocked if Reebok honors this.

I gave up on sneakers when I was about 16 years old, around the time that they went from being a purely functional item to a status symbol. Just couldn't wrap my head around the idea of paying more than a few bucks for a type of shoe that people used to put on so they wouldn't mess up their good/regular shoes. That, and I thought it was kind of silly to walk around in athletic shoes as everyday footwear, anyway. Especially in a country as fat and sedentary as ours.

Now, for some reason, my daily wear as of late is a beat up old pair of motorcycle boots. Not really sure when or why that happened. Don't even own a motorcycle.

Meh.

I use them as work shoes.  I'm on my feet all day, and I find them more comfortable than other shoes... And I'm not willing to spend hundreds (or really even fifty) on a pair of shoes that'll last six months before I get a hole either in the toe or in the ball of the shoe. (Current shoes: $30 plain white Reeboks, could stand to be replaced...)

Mid 80s Reebok cross trainers? Most comfortable sneakers I've ever had, by far.

If we're recommending work out shoes, you can't go wrong with K-Swiss Tubes....love 'em.

Yup. Actually, I think that might be how I ended up with my boots -- damn things are just indestructible. But, yeah...certainly not an option for being on your feet all day.

Luck for me, I'm very lazy.

/also, my boots are awesome. I've grown weirdly attached to them.

I remember a story from last year about how a glitch at Zappo's listed every pair of shoes for $45.00. The company honored all the orders placed before the mistake was rectified and didn't fire the employee who was responsible.

I don't hear stories about other people having their sneakers taken away that they paid for and are perfectly happy with

I got back into playing basketball (after a decade in "retirement") and finally decided to buy some new shoes (the old decade old shoes were worn out).  There are 3 outlet stores on the south end of Edmonton (about an hour and a half away), Nike, Reebok, adidas.  I went on Dec 27 last year to check them out.  Nike had bright colours, and/or shiny plastic that were all way too narrow for my wide feet (the Jordan shoes were not so bad for width, but still prohibitively expensive, and seemingly the only thing NOT on Boxing Day Sale prices), especially the gaudy blue or red Hyper basketball sensor shoes.
I ventured into Reebok (because I remember the days when Reebok made basketball shoes) to find nothing but neon coloured cross training shiat EVERYWHERE.  Seriously, I thought neon blue, yellow and purple went out in the 80s.  To say nothing of trying to play basketball shoes in cross trainers (bad idea, baaad idea.  If you enjoy having ankles).
Ended up buying a pair of black and red adidas DRose shoes; nice fit, beauty colours.  Just had to dig thru a shiattonne of boxes to find the right size.  And then, as I was standing in line an employee pointed out to me that EVERYTHING in the store was 'buy 1, get 1'.  So I did the only rational thing and grabbed ANOTHER pair of DRose shoes (white with non-neon blue stitching).  All for the very reasonable price of $80!

tl;dr - Reebok went hard into crossfit, to the detriment of my basketball dollars

/ more humourous was my trying to find sleeveless T's to play in.  After a decade off, I was 320+ at the time.
// svelte 290 now, still wearing the sleeveless Ts from my college days when I was a thick/solid 250.  Did they stretch, or did I swim in those?
/// more csb's than a frat house

Wife saw 250 rounds of .308 ammo for $10.00 online yesterday, called them to to discover it wasn't correct.  Told her she should have just bought the 250 rounds anyways.
