The river must be at the point of freezing, an eddy must be present and the current must be slow.

Eddie is definitely present..

I'm calling it a hoax. Please prove me wrong as it would be freaking cool if such a thing really happened naturally.

How do you catch a polar bear?  You make a hole in the ice and line it with peas.  When the bear goes to take a pea, you kick him in the ice hole.

That video isn't even a minute long, and they are going to try to force you to watch an ad.

Fark won't let me post what I want to say, but it ends with "...and the horse you rode in on".

Bye.

Won't you all join with me for just a moment to congratulate ChipNASA on this momentous occasion? On this day he enters in to the rarefied fraternity  of The 100 Green Association of Fark. To be sure, a rather tawdry fraternity, the sort of fraternity often accused (but seldom convicted) of molesting their female party guests. The sort of fraternity that has every good intention of mowing the grass and slapping a coat of paint on the fraternity house but somehow always seems to get sidetracked by something shiny.  The sort of fraternity given to tagging their Greek letters on the sides of building but often misspells them.

Well done, good sir, well done! Keep this up and you'll be in the 500 by November 2053!

You're right. I should have googled it first. I just did and to my surprise that there is such a natural phenomena. I learned something new today, thank you farkers.

I still believe that the one in the article is a hoax.

Seems that someone invented a new variant on crop circles.
It's impossible for these to be natural, just like it's impossible for crop circles to be made by hoaxsters.

Ice circles are pretty rare here in Texas. Slow news days are not rare at all.

Check the links below it. A teacher got busted for sex with a student, and a sex sting in an oil town got 11 arrested. So there is that.

There was a fargin' double murder. Or as they call it back in Chicago, "sunrise".

The Sheyenne just about runs through my damn backyard here in West Fargo. Thought I might get to see this cicrle o' doom. Then I saw "someting something Bismarck"... apparently rivers are long.

It's pretty rare that we get anything happening up here that other cities would consider newsworthy. We get stories about 100 year old churches with three members, the current project a group of local third graders are working on, and the fact that it's thanksgiving on Thursday and we don't have snow on the ground yet in addition to rotating ice flows.
