I don't care who you are, I think we can all agree that when someone gets all knifey that they're the one with the big issues.

This really can't be the woman's fault.  She's clearly endured a lifetime of microaggressions caused by the Patriarchy.  The man cut his hand on the knife; he was clearly trying to beat her.  Just look at the percentage of domestic violence for which men are responsible.

No mention in TFA of a baseball bat, though.

Someone my mom knew once beat her ex-husband with a cast iron frying pan when he failed to make child support payments.  When he moved, she would track him down--don't know how she managed to do it EVERY TIME without fail--and repeat the cycle of terror anew.  Even when he moved late at night, supposedly in secret, without telling too many people, she would find out.  And the next morning, guess who would be waiting at his doorstep?  Yup.  Just her and her frying pan of cast iron smiting.
True story.

Three possibilities:

1. Jealous of the time and money he spends on the car instead of her.

2. He cheated and she wanted vengeance, which she gained by hurting something he liked. This was also her way of venting the frustration and anger built up inside her after being betrayed.

3. She's a violent (possibly alcoholic or drug-abusive) nutter who overreacts and doesn't think things through before acting on her impulses.

I can sympathize with #3, having divorced someone who was no stranger to throwing things to break them, throwing things at me, taking swings at me, and taunting me to hit her to prove I was a man.

In nearly 20 years, I never struck her, except for one time near the end of our marriage when her taunting and sneering-- daring me to strike her-- finally got to me and I responded with a mighty damn hard slap which I instantly regretted and apologized for-- I should note that this was after she had hit me more than a few times over the years-- and she actually called me a pussy for apologizing. I knew I had to go, right then, because she had turned me into something I swore I'd never become. I was gone a few months later.

My fiancee is none of the above. She's not a jealous person. She's not paranoid. She's not violent. She's not crazy. She's sweet and wonderful. I've known her since high school, and I should have married her 20 years ago.

People-- even guys-- Please take my advice: If you're with an abusive person, whether they're physically, verbally, or psychologically abusive, just get out as soon as you're able. It's not going to "work out" and they're never going to change. You can't keep taking it. You will break one day, and you'll either become like them, or you'll wish for your own death.

My girl is also my hero. She helped me pull myself out of a dark place, and stood by me while I healed. Not everybody gets a hero like that in their life, and I know it's damned near impossible to walk away when you feel like you've got nowhere to walk to, but believe me: It's worth it. It's better to be alone and find yourself than to be with someone and remain lost.

The guy in this article? He needs to get away NOW. He needs to run. He needs to stop talking to her, stop seeing her, stop farking her... It's not going to get better. It will only get worse, and he will look back in twenty years and wonder where his youth went. He will regret spending so much time being so damned miserable. And honestly? His girlfriend is probably miserable, too, and him sticking around isn't helping her, either.

Sometimes, some people just aren't meant to be together and their union is a danger to everyone, themselves included.

Carrie used a bat in before he cheats. She didn't want to be seen as a violent type, so you never actually see her hitting the car.

Unlike Miranda Lambert, who will burn the town and your house down, then get a gun with some powder and lead incase she missed.

Maybe she should get a job instead of stalking and assaulting her ex-husband.

Last time my mom checked up with her--it was a while back--she stopped doing it.  Or so she said.

That's a good point.  Domestic Violence organizations point out that there is NO excuse for this kind of behavior unless the victim is a male, as is the case in 1.5% of these kinds of incidents.

Further, we shouldn't be blaming the victim.  Don't tell women to stop knifing men or hitting them with cast-iron pots.  Tell men to start paying their child support and to stop owning fancy cars.

When I started seriously thinking of how to get rid of a body, I knew it was time to get far away from her.

Been a lovely 24 years this year.
I feel safe in my own home now.

FTFY. She doesn't deserve child support because she doesn't deserve custody of her children.

vudukungfu: Any questions?

Yes. Is it true the two most dangerous rooms for a man in the house are the kitchen and the bedroom?

Answer: Yes.

Your wife is likely to stab or bludgeon you to death in the kitchen.

Your wife is likely to shoot you in the bedroom.

Stay safe guys. Control the TV remote and the couch. Make her bring food to you if you don't have a separate dining room.

//actually the room stuff is true
