mbillips: What I'm trying to figure out is how you did that kind of trick photography before computers. Overlay one negative over the other and print? Do a double exposure in the camera?

They were superimposed.This technique has been around for as long as there's been photography. It caused quite a stir a century ago with the Cottingley Fairies phenomenon/hoax.
