,,,huh? I think he means the "need to use the body parts of every critter on the planet, like rhino horns and bear gallbladders, as 'traditional medicine'" stereotype, not the "need to eat every small animal that can be scrounged up, like cats, deep-fried in garbage oil" stereotype.

didnt read the article, what exactly did they do wrong?  was it off season or something?  last i checked its legal in most states for bear harvesting, especially paws and galls,  although i know lots of people who think its gross, or icky, or whatever but what do they know they live in a city and are unused to these things.

Barely. I think we should refer to such folks as "beings", and deny them their basic humanity - after all, they're making the rest of us look bad.

Yeah, this is illegal, and they're kind of douchebags to boot for contributing to the hunting of a species that's been on and off the threatened population list for decades... but why the "sick" tag?

Nothing actually unusual or unsanitary about how the things were stored or processed.  Since she was expecting bear parts to cure her damned hip problem, my choice would have been "stupid".

So odd considering that it's legal to hunt black bears (they're in the "least concern" IUCN category) in Minnesota.

Oh, and take some ibuprofen or mix up a little "tea".

Great. Now I have to find another parts supplier for my Black Bear project. I got the lift kit, the road paws and the off road paws. Still need a high capacity kidney system and a gall bladder upgrade.

Government overreach is what's sick subby.

If someone (who legally hunted bear) gave them the bear parts that would have been ok, but selling it to them wasn't.

so if someone has a tag and shoots a bear legally then give the parts to someone like them that is illegal ? sounds a bit fishy to me sounds like over reach of the govt. and another useless waste of time ..i can see if the bears were poached just for some parts but who can tell if the bears were poached or not ..i know that if a hunter gets a bear that they need to take it to FWP for study still do they remove the parts these people were using for themselves not selling but using just seems like a big todo over nothing

I wonder if he's ever made the connection in his mind that some people feel that paying for his disability benefits is government overreach and yet another useless waste of time.

Reading is tough, I know. The equation I'm making is between the excuse of "traditional" being a pass to bad behaviour, and just evaluating efficacy. Bear paws, gall, etc. does not demonstrably improve health, and the fact that Chinese medicine ate all the bears in China should not justify eating all the bears in this hemisphere based on false associations.

No more than should the proven success of nukes in ending wars should justify ending wars by dropping nukes. See, that wasn't hard, was it?

Reading is tough, apparently. Eating bears isn't "bad behavior." It's just a culinary (or in this case, medicinal) quirk. That you feel it has no merit means nothing.

Stop being an ass because people like what you don't like.
