You know what's racist? White people appropriating the culture and music of blacks, then awarding themselves for doing it so well.

2013-11-26 03:39:27 AM
Perry is being called racist for sexualizing a traditional Japanese female figure, who is paid to serve as a hostess and excels in the art of entertainment,

Yeah....you don't even know what a "geisha" is, do ya?

(clutching my huge stash of J_Porn) If sexualizing a traditional Japanese female figure is racist, call me Archie.

Now excuse me - I'll be in my Bunker.

Not counting attention whores like Jackson and Sharpton, the people who typically scream the loudest about racism are usually college age white women.

"An inert Kay Perry maximalist way"??!? Someone is REALLY trying to justify that degree in sociology or womyns' studies or communication or something.

I can't farking BELIEVE you used "to" instead of "too". My GOD, man, have you no decency? Have you no shame? This is the worst thing that has ever happened in the history of the world.

Pilfering, yes. Profiteering, yes. Racist? No. I'd put up Jones/Bonham against any great black rhythm duo. Some white boys got soul.

Most of the time, the people who are doing the "outrage" are Americans. See tumblr and twitter for proof.

Sigh. This. People who say that rock and roll, jazz, hip hop and modern music in general was originated by blacks and only by blacks have no idea what they are talking about. All these forms of music came from a mixture of all the cultures that were in America. Which is why those genres didn't originate in places like Ireland, Spain and Benin. Or to put it another way, it's impossible to play jazz without using European originated instruments and the techniques developed there on how to play them. (You have know the rules before you can break them) Rock and roll would have never existed if someone hadn't been influenced by Spanish guitar playing. In the US, cultures can't help but mix and those genres are the result of that.

I'm offended by the clear lack of cleavage in the video. Those need to breath Katy. Why are you suffocating them?

I don't know if it is racist, but I think you should tread very farking lightly when you decide it will be a good idea to dress as another ethnicity.

Whether that be an Indian Hindu, Native American, Japanese Geisha etc. ... there is going to be a portion of people who are offended by it.

2013-11-26 08:48:15 AM
Yeah, because there's a part of their culture the Japanese haven't already sexualized to the nth degree.

The funniest thing is particular strip came out sometime in the 80s as I recall, and we weren't nearly so overly sensitive about this kind of shiat back then, and he saw this shiat coming. Berkeley Breathed was a prophet.

Yeah, and most likely it's not going to be the people of that particular ethnicity that are offended by it. It'll be some silly white folk being offended on their behalf.
