(CNN)   Final report on Sandy Hook shooting issued. Unsurprisingly, the shooter was obsessed with mass shootings and video games; one video game in particular that he would spend 10 hours or more a day on. Guess which one   (cnn.com) divider line 317

Oh crap, that sounds just like my 3 year old

shortymac: I wonder if his mom was going to commit him...

It's pretty much impossible to involuntarily commit somebody these days. Very smart reform, that one. Instead of ending abuses at mental hospitals, we just closed the mental hospitals and dumped everyone in them back into society. Brilliant plan, that.

So yeah can we just agree that it's not a great idea to teach your mentally retarded son how to use guns?

2013-11-25 08:58:01 PM
I love this little gem from TFA:
"Lanza "had significant mental health issues that affected his ability to live a normal life and to interact with others," the report states. But it adds, "What contribution this made to the shootings, if any, is unknown as those mental health professionals who saw him did not see anything that would have predicted his future behavior."

What do you mean you don't know what kind of contribution mental health issues involving inability to properly interact with others had on his decision to go on a shooting spree? Your average well adjusted mentally stable person sure as fark don't up and decide to go shoot up a school for no real reason.

In the words of Chris Rock, what happened to just crazy?

Really letting someone who puts trash bags over their window and "has no emotion" shoot guns?

I mean I *love* guns, but this was a failure on so many levels.

For those who didn't read the PDF (CNN glossed over the games listing):

Numerous video games were located in the basement computer/gaming area. The list of video
games includes, but is not limited to:

-"Grand Theft Auto"
-"Shin Megami Tensei"
-"Dynasty Warriors"
-"Vice City"
-"Team Fortress"
-"Doom"
-"Left for Dead"
-"Metal Gear Solid"
-"Dead Rising"
-"Half Life"
-"Battlefield"
-"Call of Duty"

Shelter?

Read the article and never would have guessed. One thing made me think though, the black paper bag over the windows... I've seriously thought of doing that... I've been suicidal but I never really wanted to kill other peoples except in fantasy land. I also do not own or want to own firearms. I would not mind non working reproductions that cannot be made to work.

The guy also seem to be autistic like me, well I mostly adapted well until recently and he did not. To everyone out there: If you feel you might be autistic and have to pretend to be normal, go consult before you snap.

That list was clearly complied by someone who has no idea about video games.

You are all missing the truly crazy part of this. He went to a movie theatre and pumped quarters into a DDR game for up to 10 hours straight and NOBODY thought this was weird behavior.

This must have cost him hundred, maybe thousands of dollars.

The other day I was reading this book... it started out interesting, but then the more I read, there was endless violence, murder, incest, rape, and even brutal torture.
I usually don't support book burning, but this one might be an exception.
We need to get this horrible content away from young impressionable minds, or for that matter anyone who might read it.
Oh yeah, the name of the book was "the Bible".

Don't forget dad and brother basically checking out of his life, kid is already disturbed but only communicating with his mom didn't help.

Why wasn't he in any sort of therapy? Drugs can be scary but she could have afforded talk or cbt therapy.

Interesting that DDR was his addiction. I'm pretty sure I can guess his motive though. I might get a visit from the FBI over this, but I've said a few times that I'd like to firebomb my middle school (at night, I don't want to hurt anyone) when I'm like 90. I think those buildings were built by pure evil.

So it seems this kid wanted to beat Anders Behring Breivik in the kill count department.

Didn't it occur to him that the reason Breivik got close to triple digits was because he set off a massive distraction that pulled away half his country's police force, then went on a rampage on a secluded island where no one could escape and no one could come to help for hours, all while dressed as an officer of the law to get victims to let down their guard? In addition to stocking up on steroids and beta blockers?

The verdict is in: narcissistic personality disorder and sociopathy beats obsessive-compulsive disorder and autism hands down.
