Wow, and it actually scans too!  A rarity for lyric-parody headlines.

I don't see you guys rating the kind of coup we're contemplating. We'd let you fight, we would incite you, but the cocktails we use would not ignite you.

Thanks to recency, I see this faring well in HOTY voting.

That was brilliant, subby.
The song headline gambit sometimes doesn't work, but your headline did.

On a more serious note, how many moves until checkmate?

Political instability is a routine occurrence over there it seems. Offices get occupied, sometimes there is a military coup, most of the time the King steps in and tells everybody to settle down and for the most part they do for a few years and start the cycle all over again.

Sometimes I wish we were as passionate about our government--passionate enough to take over buildings, riot, etc. Instead, we have the Politics tab.

I don't think any of these are a trap.

I was sitting on a bus one day, and a really hot Thai woman in a short skirt sat next to me.
I kept thinking to myself "Don't get an erection, don't get an erection, don't get an erection", but she did.

Except maybe a couple of the girls in the last pic who are likely to be HIV+.

Back on topic, Thailand is an interesting political scene; a really concise study in class divide.

Don't say anything negative about the King. Seriously guys. The King is awesome. His internet monitors have their eye on you. King of Thailand is the bestest, says I.

I read an interesting book called Spillover by David Quammen that had a chapter about the spread of HIV and how it evolved from a simian virus to the global disease we know of today.  Pretty interesting read.

And getting back on the subject of transsexuals and effeminate gay men who dress as women, the Thai term for them is kathoey.  I read that in a book as well.  The John Rain series by Barry Eisler.  Not sure which book it was, but it was in one of them.  Good series if you like action.

It could just be a shadow from bad lighting and not necessarily a mustache.  Or something similar.  Just because it may look like a mustache doesn't mean it is a mustache.

OK, firstly I am unable to garner as much enthusiasm for the headline as some of you. This is not a disparagement of varied tastes as much as it is the voicing of a simple contrary opinion. This is especially in view of the fact that the photograph leading off TFA has a pleasantly smiling woman shaking hands with a pleasantly smiling security force member. As though they get together every few years and do this very thing.

Secondly, there used to be a bar in Pattaya that had a floor show consisting of an all-male-but-not-looking-at-all-male chorus line ala the Rockets. Very entertaining and I am pleased to report that I did not get drunk there and make a fool of myself with a dancer.

Some of the best sea stories come from Thailand...

Think of an adjective. Now carry it to an extreme. And then, think of its exact, polar opposite.

That's Bangkok. The city of ancient and brand-new everything... of chaos and serenity, pristine grunginess and choking poverty amid opulent wealth.

Taking the train out of Bangkok is an experience. It shows you that just under the surface there is a huge population of people living in shacks made of metal sheets propped up against each other, hidden from view.

It's no worse than Kipling, unless you think bright, night, eye, and symmetry rhyme.
