So actually reading the article is not a prerequisite to submitting it.

2001-12-05 11:01:19 AM
Those bells do tend to grate on my nerves...I think they should use bulhorns.

2001-12-05 11:02:28 AM
too bad they weren't banned for a good reason such as the fact that they openly have anti-gay policies

2001-12-05 11:03:08 AM
It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't start ringing them from the 4th of July...

2001-12-05 11:03:09 AM
Good!

2001-12-05 11:03:43 AM
What next? Ban Star Trek for farting?

They are not really banned, just must follow some rules now.

2001-12-05 11:06:14 AM
damn unions

why shouldnt america's wal-marts be allowed to do whatever the fark they want to on their own property?

2001-12-05 11:08:27 AM
"of strict labor laws requiring store access to all groups if they allow just one organization to solicit on their property. "

Folks, because they have the Salvation Army there, that have to let other organizations too. They are curtailing because of beraucratic(sp?) BS. Cannot very well have 40 organizations there at the same time wanting your money. (besides Wal-mart...hehe)

2001-12-05 11:08:37 AM
Y' know, I feel sorry for those poor schmucks when its like 15 degrees with a howling wind outside.

And Wal-Mart isn't BANNING them per se, it's a labor issue. Read the damn article, folks.

2001-12-05 11:09:39 AM
1) Those bells hurt my ears.
2) The homophobes at Salvation Army ain't gettin' a dime of my 6-figure income.

2001-12-05 11:12:02 AM
wish they'd ban the bloody bell ringers every day...not just 4 days a week

2001-12-05 11:12:15 AM
Fark the Salvation Army.

Guess that equal-access restriction imposed on them should make them think twice about making their orginization equal-access to all humanity...gay, lesbian or bi?

Hope they freeze in the snow.

2001-12-05 11:14:02 AM
Well, just like you Gay Pride Parades, Quik420, salvation army has the right to exist too.

2001-12-05 11:14:41 AM
Boo-farkin-hoo. It's aggressive panhandling. If a homeless guy stood on a corner ringing a bell in your face until you gave him money, the cops would drag him into an alley and kick his ass.

2001-12-05 11:15:21 AM
I give to charities when I can, but I hate being begged for money. Be it some guy who "just needs bus fare" for a trip to his "cousin's", or be it some annoying bell ringer when I'm trying to shop.
At least if charities call me at home I can hang up on them.

2001-12-05 11:15:33 AM
Thank God! Those bells give me a headache and have been known to trigger shooting rampages. Not that I go to Walmart.

2001-12-05 11:15:37 AM
"too bad they weren't banned for a good reason such as the fact that they openly have anti-gay policies"

the Salvation Army? ya know I do remember a couple years ago one of the old codgers ringing away outside Krogers, screaming "Jeeesus Christ C'mon!! Give it up a little, ya bleedin', stingy faggots!"

2001-12-05 11:17:13 AM
Yea, Shogo, that is a good point, but one would hope that the Salvatio Army worker is not using that to go out and get himself a pack of Dorals, a bottle of Mad Dog 20/20, and a thirteen year old hooker.

But good point.

In a related story: All Santa suits and ringing bells half off at Wal-Mart!

Watch out for falling prices!

2001-12-05 11:23:51 AM
AWESOME! It's nice to see an organization with homophobic philosophies get this treatment for a change. I'm doing what bloggers Bev and Saundra first suggested (and that has since pissed off Jerry Falwell) - dropping notes in the buckets of those bell ringers so SA knows why I'm not giving money this year.

2001-12-05 11:26:44 AM
I used to be a bell ringer for a salvation Army during the Holiday season. My church would sign up and ask for volunteers from the congregation. i wonder if they still do this though, cause this church was supportive of the gay community?

2001-12-05 11:29:50 AM
the bell rings are gay, they deserve to be freezing. if i wanna give you money, i will but don't hassle me when im trying to get some skin mags.

2001-12-05 11:31:03 AM
Sad? This is farking awesome. I hate those bell ringing biatches. I have a better idea to make money. Think, "I'll pay you to shut up." Just make a machine that outputs a terrible noise and will only stop if you put money into it. Similar to a parking meter: a quarter buys a minute, a dime buys 20 seconds, and a nickle doesn't get you shiat. It doesn't even require a volunteer's labor.

2001-12-05 11:31:20 AM
Considering that the Salvation army is the best charity unlike the redcross they give 90% of whatever they get to the people that need it instead of pocketing it for themselfs.

Also I see some agressive faggots posting against them. I hope the next person you screw gives you A.I.D.S.

Sad my ass, these Salvation army farks are in leagues with Jerry Falwell. Most of your donated $$$ goes to Jerry's Salvation Army.

Suckers.

2001-12-05 11:42:26 AM
Gee, MediaMadeMeKill... what a nice thought. It really makes me feel the "reason for the season". Christ and the goodness of charity have clearly affected your heart, for "out of the hearts abundance, the mouth speaks." I'm thinking that with endorsements like yours, the Salvation Army doesn't NEED enemies. heh

2001-12-05 11:46:19 AM
But if they need to go to such lengths to prevent the workers from unionizing, maybe the workers have a legitimate complaint against management. Sounds fishy to me...

2001-12-05 11:46:33 AM
Lawbreak casts the first vote to kick MediaMadeMeKill off the island.

Congress shall make no law...abridging the freedom of speech, but you should be kicked out of Farkistan for that.

Wonder who is behind the Salvation Army and where the money goes?

http://www.christianity.com/salvationarmyusa

It's a tool of Jerry Falwell to funnel money into the Christian Coalition.

Every wonder where that change goes that you drop in that bucket?

It's used to put the 10 Commandments up in government buildings, it's used to ban science books that teach evolution, it's used to pay for refreshments for church meetings where they tear up and burn harry potter books, and it's used to print homophobic propaganda.

The Salvation Amry isn't an army trying to help poor people, it's an army of religious fundamentalists that want to 'Salvage' your soul by forcing fundamentalism on you.

So, go drop some more money in Jerry's pockets idiots.

2001-12-05 11:49:09 AM
bellringers are nothing but thiefs in a red costume, pretending to be blessing us. while in reality all money goes to ricki lake to feed her and her fata$$ friends. show me the last time salvation army has helped me or anyone i know. if they are willing to take money at walmarts, they should have to give money as well to people who are starved or don't have enough cash to buy a dvd player.

2001-12-05 11:49:33 AM
Damn Unions!

What the Fark!

2001-12-05 11:54:50 AM
It is partly Wal-Mart's cheap ass for not paying there people more than $5.00 an hour, and the labor unions would go away. If they did vote for a union it would probably win. It's not like they couldn't afford to pay them more.

Why should I care, I don't even shop at farkin Wal-Mart.
Long live Target!!

Sorry to much coffee...:)

2001-12-05 11:56:15 AM
Don't listen to FB- he is trying to get impressionable folk to not give this season, and therefore destroy Christmas for many a homeless child in America. He's a clever one all right.
(Jerry Falwell stealing, ya right!)

2001-12-05 11:57:34 AM
I bow to Fb-

Now the Salivation Army would be better. An army of Kirsten Dunst clones.

"...I see some agressive faggots posting against them. I hope the next person you screw gives you A.I.D.S. "

and what exactly have you got against agressive faggots anyway? you just like to use the phrase 'agressive faggots', eh? have aggressive faggots ever hurt you? just who exactly are these aggressive faggots? do aggressive faggots frighten you? are you an aggressive faggot, MediaMadeMeKill?

Funny how the guy who wrote that article could still type while sucking Wal-Mart's DICK. The whole article seemed to be bashing the Union. Making it seem like IT is responsible for this problem. When in reality the reason Wal-Mart restricted the access of the bell ringers is because they don't want union people talking to their employees.

Why not simply give the Union people the same access to the place as the bell ringers? If Wal-Mart is such a great place to work, and their people don't want to join a union then their won't be a problem. Bunch of union reps. sitting by the bell ringers wasting their time.

Wow, I'm agreeing with Fb-! :)

Also I see some agressive faggots posting against them. I hope the next person you screw gives you A.I.D.S.

Well, seing as couples of two women have a lower transmition rate for virtually all STDs than either straight men or straight women, I'd say your odds are a whole lot better than mine ;)

BTW, how would you like it if groups went out of their way to take rights from you/give rights to others but not you? I.e., charities like the Salvation Army who actively work to make sure that their money doesn't end up in the hands of GLBT's, regardless of how needy they are. Or, funding organizations to change you (for example, picture living in an islamic country, and charitable organizations funnelling money into programs to try and "convert you" from christianity - would you give to them?).

Wal-mart has been *fiercly* anti-union, because they don't want to have to pay their employees more or give them more benefits, while still trying to keep them locked into jobs. They went so far as to close down all of their meat departments in 6 states because *one* store's meat department voted to join UFCW. That's 180 departments.

2001-12-05 12:17:28 PM
Did not know that Falwell is behind that. Salvation Army will never get anything out of me.

Rei,

Atheism and the strong belief that the likes of Jerry and friends are a plague upon this planet are certainly two of the things we agree upon.

2001-12-05 12:19:07 PM
I always thought that those bells were pretty god damn annoying. Maybe they ought to issue them bullhorns instead.

just don't shop at wal-mart or give to the slavation army.

really simple and problem solved.

bleh.

Maybe we should all just relax, take a deep breath, and suck down a few "polygamy porters".

For Mediamademekill

What is considered an unacceptable post on the comment boards?

Images that would make many people feel ill (autopsies, vomiting, severed limbs, alarming deformities, roadkill etc.)
Repetitive messages (i.e. flooding)
Messages bereft of content (e.g. 50 lines of the letter "J")
Messages exhorting others to commit illegal acts
Hate speech (criticism is not hate speech)
