At least the US isn't going to be bombing Iran like certain people want.

"Israeli personnel in recent days were in Saudi Arabia to inspect bases that could be used as a staging ground to launch attacks against Iran, according to informed Egyptian intelligence officials."

Jews inspecting military bases in Saudi Arabia so they can use them to attack another Muslim state, as reported by a "secret" source in another Muslim country that is currently going through domestic upheaval.

Sounds legit.

Man, folks are pissed that we aren't getting a greenlight to bomb the crap out of folks.

There feels to be some sort of disinformation campaign going on.

I am not one who normally believes in conspiracy theories, but the king of Saudi Arabia would be overthrown the very next hour they allow Israeli troops on Saudi land. Saudi Arabia is already in political mess. The king won't risk it.

Isn't Iran like 6 weeks away from completing a nuke?  And haven't they been since like 2002?

People have found articles from the 70's that said they're within months of getting a bomb.

It would be much worse if this is true. It would not stop with the king. The entire Saudi royal family would be beheaded publically if captured. I'm sure the State department would be processing many many applications for political asylum the second the SHTF.

Iran invaded the Sudetenland?

2013-11-25 07:51:14 AM
Uh, the Arab states have been anti-Iranian for a while now, partly because of the Sunni-Shia thing but especially since they attacked oil tankers in the first Persian Gulf War (aka the Iran-Iraq War).

2013-11-25 07:51:16 AM
They would never link arms in the Middle East, it would be too hard to stab each other in the back.

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this Egyptian who knows this kid who's going with a girl who saw Israelis pass out at Saudi Arabia last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

It's amusing to see the nutters hand-wringing over the potential for reduced tensions as if things are better when there is a constant threat of bombings and war.  Eat shiat, you pathetic pants wetters.

If Neville Chamberlain had immediately attacked the Nazi's, wouldn't Britain, given the state of it's military at the start of hostilities, gotten the *shiat* kicked out of it? (That is, even worse than they *DID*?)

I should clarify that I realize the Germans didn't beat the British or anything in WWII, but they did wail on them *really hard*, and I seem to recall it was kind of touch-and-go for a bit. (Thankfully, Hitler was an IDIOT and decided that it was better to terrorize london than completely destroy the RAF, if I remember right.)

Oh, Israel is very popular.  The Saudis, the Egyptians, the Syrians, Greeks, Muslims, shiates, Iraqis - they all adore them.  They think he's a righteous dude.

Some of the nutters are upset because it doesn't bring us closer to Armageddon.  Remember, there are Dominionists in elected office in the U.S. who think the Rapture and the End of Days are coming and they want to be there when it happens.

Without Neville Chamberlain's deal, the Nazis would almost certainly have successfully Blitzkrieg'd the hell out of England. The Brits weren't prepared for a Nazi attack; they used the time granted by Chamberlain's deal to beef up their military.

Also amplified recently by the fact that their last president was a twat not just to Israel and the west, but to everybody. Arab leaders loathed that little fartbag. They don't trust Rouhani either, but Ahmadinejad was deeply disliked on a personal level.

Neville Chamberlain-like

The "conservative" media and Republican politicians always trot this out whenever a Democratic administration does anything with respect to foreign policy. Every damn time. It's one more thing that leads  me to believe that right-wingers don't know what the hell they're talking about.

Quiet, he clearly should have said "WE ARE SO TOTALLY GONNA GO TO WAR WITH YOU NAZIS just give us time to get our military back up to snuff okay?". Subterfuge has NO PLACE in politics, especially when dealing with hostile foreign powers!

Yeah the only thing that would have made Israel and the GOP happy is no diplomacy at all. Nothing less than a scorched earth campaign and another 40 years of war would please you people.

So, Israel and the GOP can basically suck a big dick. Hopefully choke and die on it, you evil war loving farks.

None of the three powers were ready for war in 1938.  If anything the French would have been least unready from a numbers and equipment standpoint, and the French command and control structure would have been slightly less obsolete than it was in 1940.  A conflict in the fall of 1938 would be an awkward back-and-forth; the French attack from behind the Maginot Line and pressure the Germans while they attack Czechoslovakia.  The air war would have been locally decisive (the Luftwaffe's tactics and equipment weren't too far off from being "ready" for combat compared to the German army relying on Panzer Is and IIs), but it's unclear what France and a token BEF could have done.

What's hilarious is, they went to war over Poland for the same reasons they threatened action over Czechoslovakia...but they had far less capacity for defending Poland.

Munich was not a failure of Chamberlain - it was a failure of two decades of Franco-British policy borne of an insufficient victory in 1918.

They're the same people who are still losing their minds over why Obama's too much of a pussy to get us mired in a Syrian civil war with strange splinter factions, loose chemical weapons, and Mossad and Hezbollah making out in a closet with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

Sometimes, people seem like they're losing their minds because that's exactly what they're doing.

The GOP lost the right to even remotely have any say on foreign policy and nuclear disarmament when they kicked Richard Lugar to the curb.

I'm a progressive dem, and even I voted for Lugar because he was so key to nuclear disarmament.

I refuse to give WND a click, but I'm sure it's to reinforce the neo-con trope that France has been an icky arms dealer in the Middle East and they're responsible for feeding weapons to various parties.  Because you know those French, they're cheese-eating surrender monkeys until they become sinister merchants of death (but pay NO attention to the sheer volume of business  we do, that's just exporting freedom!).

Obama is a bad President. We know this because everything he does is bad. Like this, for example. Why is this bad? We don't know yet. So how do we know it's bad? Because Obama did it.

Study it out.

When Germany started re-arming they did so at a good speed starting in 1935. By 1937 they had a capable but small Army. At the time of the deal the German military was yet to reach peak strength. A war then would have disrupted Germany's war plans and made their subsequent invasion of Poland and their subsequent invasion of Denmark and Norway less likely.

LordJiro: Without Neville Chamberlain's deal, the Nazis would almost certainly have successfully Blitzkrieg'd the hell out of England. The Brits weren't prepared for a Nazi attack; they used the time granted by Chamberlain's deal to beef up their military.

Except Hitler actually did beef up Germany while England did a slow rearmament. The time to beat Hitler was when he started his rearmament in the mid-30s. Instead they waited till he had fully armed and attacked Poland. Saying that Chamberlain had been dealt a bad hand is accurate. However it should be footnoted that he'd been dealt better hands before and neglected to pursue them because he thought the next hand would be better.
