(ESPN)   Despite starting the season 3-10, Brooklyn Nets owner still has faith in Jason Kidd as coach. For those who don't speak the byzantine language of professional sports, that means he's royally farked   (espn.go.com ) divider line

Their owner should have known that the positive Brooklyn effect is only for obscure sports like professional table tennis and the NHL.

Hey they're still in the playoff hunt in the East.

Are all those Nets first rounders the Celtics now own unprotected? Because if so, holy crap.

That they are.  Not only that, but the Celtics can swap first rounders with Brooklyn in 2017 if they so choose.  Danny Ainge is a wizard.

What's the draft pick situation for Boston?

That's right, they also have the Clips first rounder in '15. So in the next five drafts, the Celts have 9 first round picks, none of which are protected, and the right to change places with the Nets in one of them. And they have two pick in this years draft, which might be the best one since '03.

Thanks! Now I need to find a rocket surgeon to decipher all that.

There is  a reason I only provided the link.

Short answer: They have lots of picks.

It turns out you just can't come off the street and be an effective head coach right away. Who would've thunk

Never play poker with Danny Ainge.

Ok, so if I'm reading that correctly, when it comes to first-rounders over the next four years...

2014: Boston's got one high draft pick if they continue to stink, and then they get the worst of the picks between the Hawks and the Nets, which gets awesome if Atlanta starts to suck and the Nets continue to.

2015: They get their own pick, and the Clippers'.

2016: They get their own pick, and the Nets.

2017: Option to swap up if the Nets get a better first rounder.

Sounds good on paper, but it relies upon the drafting abilities of the Celtics. Not much to go on there for recent analysis. Jared Sullinger looks pretty good, but Fab Melo was a wash. Before that you have to go back to 2008 for their last first-rounder.

'14: Celts have their pick, and get either the Nets pick, or the Hawks (Hawks can swap with the Nets if they want)
'15: Celts have their pick, and get the Clippers
'16: Celts have their pick and get the Nets pick
'17: Celts have their pick, but have the option of swapping picks with the Nets
'18: Celts have their pick, and get the Nets pick

So 9 first round picks total, and most importantly, none of them are lottery/Top X protected.

Here is hoping Ainge can make this work.

The Celtics can really build something here if they hit on all these draft picks, and the way Brooklyn's season has been going, it sounds like it's going to be hard not to. The NBA might need to revise the prohibition on trading first rounders in consecutive drafts to include this right-to-trade thing as well.

So Garnett and Pierce aren't powering the Nets to dominance? I always made fum of Doc Rivers title of Coach in Boston because I just assumed the veterans of Pierce, Garnett and Ray Allen really didn't need much coaching.

Olynyk 13th overall this year seems like a steal so far. And I bet Brad Stevens' input will be very valuable for the next few years.

Shaq didn't power the Celtics or Cavs to the finals. Less about coaching. More about age. Maybe if they let garnett use his walker, he could be defensive player of the year.

I wonder if there is some bizarre behind-the-scenes checks and balance system that keeps good GMs and Coaches from free spending owners.  Think about how the cheap fark Nuggets owners threw away the executive of the year and coach of the year to save a few bucks.  Then you have the mad russian who gets some tards who almost instantly threw away the present and the foreseeable future.

Ha, and Deron Williams thought the Nets would be better than the Mavericks, suck it!
