I wish he was still the showrunner.  He had interesting insights into the genre.

The list of bosses who think they can do it better than you is endless. The list of those who can is short.

I can see why season 1+2 were pretty good, since then the show has really fell out of favor for me.

I managed to put another family together on Mob City that is very meaningful to me. The people I get to work always make the journey worth it.

Wonder what makes him think AMC won't screw him again on that one?

Oh, and after racking my brain trying to figure out where I recognized the Governor's new love interest I had to look it up.

Mob City is going to be on TNT. I doubt Darabont would work with AMC again. Its a shame, the first Walking Dead episode, the one he directed, is one of the greatest single episodes in tv history. The series was never really able to live up to those standards, especially once Darabont was fired.

I would have loved to see his version of the first episode of season 2 exploring the fall of Atlanta and how "Tank Zombie" got there when the world went to shiat.  But I can see how to do that properly it would cost a preaty penny.

Yeah, I just realized that. I don't know why I thought it was going to be on AMC.

The first season, aside from most of the first episode, is the worst season of the series imo. I like Darabont but getting through his contribution was almost unbearable.

Why doesn't he concentrate his griping on "Mad Men" and Matt Weiner? That's where his budget went.

Oh, and AMC really screwed over Vince Gilligan. You can tell by how "Breaking Bad" suffered in its last season.

He basically said nothing but he's dishing about the execs?

Personally,  I thought Season 2 was atrocious and boring.  3 was just mediocre with the exception of the episode where they went into the town that was defended by the guy from the first episode,  which was probably the second best of the series.   This season has been surprisingly good,  and the last episode with the Governor was also excellent.

Instead of two 13-episode seasons we got two 8-episode ones. AMC being cheap-asses started with Weiner but Walking Dead and Breaking Bad have their share of bullshiat from the network too.

The thing about TWD is that is was the first show AMC owned outright.  Mad Men could hold AMC's nuts to the fire by threatening to go to another network, but with TWD, that wasn't possible.  Plus, since it's a zombie show, so none of the cast can throw their weight around or guess what?  Your character gets eaten next.

As for the first season, I love it because of the way Darabont humanized the walkers.  They weren't just mindless monsters, they were people.  Even in death they had stories and personalities and individuality.  He played it just ambiguous enough that you were never really sure how much humanity the walkers retained.  Was Amy trying to bite Andrea at the end, or did she recognize her?  Was Bicycle Girl reaching for Rick because she was hungry, or was she begging for release?  One of the moments that stand out for me was the scene in Atlanta where Rick and Glenn are preparing to disembowel the walker and wear its guts.  Rick takes the time to look through the walker's wallet and giving a synopsis of the walker's previous life.  What would have just been a meaningless gorefest turned into a poignant moment of (inadvertent) self-sacrifice.  Almost all of that was lost when the new show runner took over.

Pending further information, this guy is a whiny biatch.

Sorry old man, but the guy with the money is your boss. You don't run shiat.

Just because the guy has money, doesn't mean he knows what he's doing.

Yeah, the very long gap between Seasons 4 and 5 of Mad Men were due to AMC trying to cheap out on them.  And, as you mentioned, the stupid split season that Breaking Bad ended up with was because AMC wouldn't pony up for a single 16 episode season.  So, yeah, those shows have suffered from AMC's cheap-assery too.

Reading the article, it seems his gripe was with AMC wasn't that they were trying to tell him what to do, it was that they weren't giving him enough money to do it.  The boss may not know creative, but he knows the budget.  Sometimes, you just can't afford to blow up Atlanta.

They should've hired Lennie James as a full-time cast member.

AMC gave Hell On Wheels a 4th season, which will have more episodes than any of the previous 3. I can't be too upset with them.

Just keep making Justified awesome and we won't have a problem.
