Finally...I screwed up submitting a thread earlier, only hit preview didn't hit submit after.

Felipe's final race for Ferrari, subby.

Talk of rain on the team radio....

So I guess you won't be getting me tickets?

Romain Grosjean out at the end of lap 3 (engine), Sebastian Vettel leads Mark Webber (P2) by over 10 seconds, possible rain on the way

2013-11-24 11:25:31 AM
I loved it they talk about waiting for DRS so Vettel could pass for the lead, and he passes on the straight without DRS.

iron de havilland: Talk of rain on the team radio....

And others saying none forecast for 20-30 minutes.

2014 teams and drivers.

Maldonado likely to go to Lotus, since he takes money.

Di Resta doesn't, so a question mark there.

King Something: possible rain on the way

In other words, just another day at Interlagos.

Will rain make the race more exciting?

The Texas race was the first F1 race I have seen.

2013-11-24 11:29:26 AM
Bottas is not doing brilliantly over the last 2 laps....

Broktun: Will rain make the race more exciting?

It depends. It could cause some excitement, it could also cause lulz. The rain can hit out of nowhere and leave cars sliding all over the place before they can make it to the pits to change tires.

2013-11-24 11:30:35 AM
Vettel locked up his fronts which will cause him to pit...is it early? would love to see him caught out with dry tyres if the rain comes.

2013-11-24 11:32:41 AM
So everyone except Red Bull and a couple others pit, and the rains come..

2013-11-24 11:32:53 AM
I guess Vettel stayed out. Dammit.

2013-11-24 11:33:55 AM
I loved that view from the wing!

cameroncrazy1984: I guess Vettel stayed out. Dammit.

Both Red Bulls did. So if the rains do hit hard, everyone has just handed them an extra 26 seconds lead.

2013-11-24 11:35:21 AM
VET +31 ALO, box box box

2013-11-24 11:36:18 AM
And Vettel pits and comes out in the lead by a bunch.

Apparently they were the only ones to look at the radar.

And a 2.1 for Vettel, and a 5 for Webber. RBR doesn't give a SHT about Webber anymore.

That wasn't intentional.

You should try and find the highlights from yesterday's quali.

Perez ran over a kerb, which you really don't want to be doing in the wet and had a falling out with a wall.

Yeah looking at the replay, that was a mistake.

I'll try posting this in the correct thread this time:

Bernie's tipped Christian Horner as his replacement.

2013-11-24 11:43:37 AM
and according to the Sky stream, Massa and/or Hamilton has a KERS issue

iron de havilland: Bernie's tipped Christian Horner as his replacement.

Oh god, the butthurt from Ferrari would be epic if that happened.

2013-11-24 11:45:35 AM
And Massa gets a drive through

2013-11-24 11:47:13 AM
FIA likes to make sure who gets points. FARK YOU MASSA! Love FIA

2013-11-24 11:49:07 AM
Massa not a happy camper

2013-11-24 11:49:32 AM
Massa finally takes his drive thru

2013-11-24 11:50:43 AM
F1 needs the orange cone since they all are running over the start of the pit in line, but as best I can tell, that is ok, but running over the zebra stripe portion of the pit in line is the issue.

2013-11-24 11:52:37 AM

clear_prop: but running over the zebra stripe portion of the pit in line is the issue.

Well it's more about having all four tires over the line but then not pulling into the pits. A couple drivers were warned about it yesterday

They all seem to have all four tires over the single line portion, but slide back onto the track before the zebra stripe portion. MAS went across the zebra stripe portion of the line when he got his penalty.

Is "soda cookies" slang for two racecar drivers having homosex?

/oh my word!

Is there any penalty less harsh than a drive-thru?  Can they be forced to abandon DRS for a few laps or something?  Because that was pretty drastic.

2013-11-24 12:00:17 PM
Vettel winning again. Shocking, and boring.

2013-11-24 12:02:32 PM
commentators on Sky saying "scrap practice" as a way to get more exciting races. I have to wonder how much of the "boring race phenomenon" is caused by the tracks themselves. Older tracks, like Interlagos, Neurburgring, Spa, even Silverstone with all its modifications, tend to have better races, where the driver actually has to _drive_, than newer traks like Abu Dhabi

I don't think it's possible for a less severe penalty to be imposed during a race.

/Seb just got passed by Sutil

The race is hardly boring.

A drive through is the least drastic penalty for anything that doesn't involve gaining a position outside of the rules. If you gain a position doing something outside the rules you can be ordered to just give it back.

Bottas' tyre just plain came off, Hamilton losing his

Jalopnik had commentary from a driver recently on this.  Designed tracks are too predictable and easy to drive.  Natural tracks have bad camber and other issues to make them more challenging to drive.

Bottas lost a wheel, Lewis has a puncture and the Red Bulls were double stacked in the pits.

This race just went Benny Hill real quick.

2013-11-24 12:08:10 PM
So Red Bull completely screws up Vettel's pit stop...he still comes back out in the lead...it's that kind of year for Red Bull.

Even with the fsckup in the pits, VET still leads.

Bottas and Hamilton hit each over

Last race of the year, wonder if any other drivers will have mechanical failures in the last few laps.

They weren't expecting Seb to go in; they had Mark's tyres out. SKY's saying Red Bull may have been expecting a safety car for the HAM/BOT collision

/Lewis gets a drive-thru for that

2013-11-24 12:11:49 PM
And Hamilton just got a drive through

2013-11-24 12:14:23 PM
Moar penalties MOAR!

2013-11-24 12:14:24 PM
So Vettel is losing a tenth of a second every 3 laps...
