arcas: Lets see...Country music singer shot and killed in a Nashville bar by the owner.  I'm sure the bar's person in charge of booking entertainment is doing a facepalm right about now...

And now the episode of "Bar Rescue" that the owner was on is probably never going to be aired. There's something about embarrassing crap that means it'll never be aired.

There's an episode of COPS where someone shot the cameraman in the foot and now the only ep with my city in it will never be aired when I'd go out of my way to make time to watch that episode.

WHY TV GODS!? WHY?!

Forbidden Doughnut: skinink: Too funny. Why wouldn't a gun owner de-escalate a minor situation by calling the cops, but instead let it get out of control to the point of pulling a gun? And this was the owner of the bar, who should know how run a bar. Has he never seen "Roadhouse"? Be nice!

Southerners ( well, Rednecks)...it's part of the culture....

/ not Southern, but there are some hicks & rednecks in my State ( Oregon) who would also "solve" problems this way...
// kinda puts the lie to the "Portlandia" image that we have nationwide, IMHO.

Well, sure, but Portlandia is a humorous exaggeration of Portland. It does not apply to Oregon City, or Boring, or any of the many, many other small town burgs that people flee in order to move to Portland.

I live near a small city in California that has a college; it is an island of sanity surrounded by a sea of red neck tea party types.

No.  Because it needs the following - mama, trains, trucks, prison, and getting drunk

MFAWG: syrynxx: According to his official Facebook page, Mills died Saturday afternoon.

Who in the hell updates their Facebook page after they die?
And how do you react to that?  Do you "Like" a status update that says "I am dead LOL"?

I lost a friend of mine a few years ago now, a man well known for following a fringe type of motorsport all over the country. His mother updates his page occasionally, and those of us that knew him touch bases there once in a while.

Same.  Went to school with a gal who took her life last year.  Her family keeps her FB active so people can post and tag her about missing her.  Her adult and teen kids post updates to her wall on a fairly regular basis talking about their daily lives as though she were still around.  Eventually, as the days continue to move forward, I'm sure over time those will get less and less and drop entirely.  For some, it's a healing method.

It would be truly  sad if her Facebook page gets more traffic now then when she was alive.

He opened for Jamey Johnson for a while, if that helps at all.

I'm Bill Hicks and I'm dead now, 'cause I smoke cigarettes. Cigarettes didn't kill me - a bunch of non-smokers kicked the shiat out of me one night. I tried to run - they had more energy than I, I tried to hide - they heard me wheezing.

Unless there is more to the story, I am guessing the bar owner is going to be doing a considerable stretch of time in prison.  Mills blowing smoke in his face isn't putting his life in imminent danger.

Oh jeez I over-simplified. I forgot to mention that popular country is also about trucks, sex, potsmoking, and drinking.

Like all pop music, 90% of country is formulaic and boring.

The Beatings Will Continue Until Morale Improves: It's Nashville, but not that Nashville.

It is. The confusion is caused by the Huntsville AL station reporting that the Nashville station "reported" something, which makes the Nasville, AL byline look legit at first glance. It's a typo.
