Fark that.  Kick their ass all the way or don't play the game.  That's how the real world works.

Yes, and sports should always reflect that.  If an Iran and Iraq futbol match doesn't start and end with a field of dead motherf*ckers, I am disappoint.

UNC wanted to avoid freak injuries during garbage time as well, I don't blame them.

I was checking scores earlier today to see if UTSA beat UNT, and this was the first score I came across.  I was annoyed because I thought I'd accidentally brought up basketball results.

The object of a game is to win, not to crush your enemies, see them driven before you, et cetera.  If you've whooped your opponent's ass hard enough in two or three quarters to rule out any possibility of a comeback (modulo divine intervention), you deserve to take the rest of the day off.

Give your 2nd and third string players some game time.  If they're still stomping the shiat out of the other team then so be it.  Your guys get to participate in an ass whipping and the other team can feel the humiliation of not being prepared.  Next time perhaps they'll have their shiat together.  Or they won't and they'll get destroyed again.  Just like the way the world works.

This is actually not too bad considering Old Dominion didn't have a football program two years ago.

The "real world" doesn't impose shattered bones, quadriplegia, and chronic traumatic encephalopathy--that fun grab bag of early-onset Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Lou Gehrig's, and every other neurological disease with a catchy name--as penalties for failure.  (Thanks a lot, OSHA.)  At some point the importance of teaching life lessons has to be weighed against the importance of not emulating the 1975 classic Rollerball.

And that's not even the largest margin of victory in that conference today.

Best part ODU was winning after the first quarter.

get a tournament system in place so teams don't feel threatened by having 2-3 losses when they have a strong schedule..instead of schedule 5 strong-ish opponents ( potential losses) and 5 cupcake games which are boring to watch.

/Go Georgia Southern over Florida?

I think I need to see this. Luckily it's on ESPN3.

The only hazard I've actually experienced on a construction site was breathing drywall because I was too dumb to ask for a mask my first day.  Is CTE and quadriplegia really the norm? Yes, there are opportunities to fall off of buildings or have things fall on you, but I didn't think it was part of the job the way collisions are in football.

Real world? Real world is procrastinating until crisis time, do the bare minimum, let everyone know how hard you want them to think you work, and half-ass your way to mediocrity while posting on Fark or playing solitaire.

There are exceptions and they are the guys who get swirlies for throwing the curve everyone else is graded on.

I don't follow college ball like I used to, but did I miss something? Florida State beat Idaho 80-14 today. Aren't these match ups supposed to happen during the first couple of games of the season? Why so late in the year?

Seems a bit odd that UNC's defense gave up 20 points to a team that wasn't even a speed bump for UNC's offense.

I suspect it's a case of playing a very very soft zone combined with not exactly putting forth the best defensive effort since the game wasn't exactly in question.

They tend to happen the week prior to rivalry week as well.  I guess in order to rest up for the "big game".
I heard that Florida is lining up Cumberland College for next year's game before rivalry week.

Sounds like they should be in the same league as U of M-Flint, Ohio State club and Xavier U, not facing big school programs.  U of M-Flint has been trying to move up, but U of M hasn't given them the support.  To prove to U of M-Flint why they don't get taken more serious, the regular UofM team scrimmages them.

Basically, they are the JV league of college football.

Wow, talk about a bad day at the office.  Am kinda surprised by this score as I thought ODU's offense would have a minimum kept them in the game.

I guess this is what a season worth of frustration looks like...

They are at that same level. They play games like this to fund the rest of their season and a lot of other money losing sports.

ODU started playing football in FCS in 2009. This is their first year playing FBS, so their roster is both smaller than most FBS schools' and full of not-quite first tier talent.

That being said, ODU is located in the middle of a great area to find FBS and even NFL talent. We'll see if UNC dares to schedule them 5 years from now. Not bad for a school historically known for field hockey and women's basketball.
